I was asked to keep quiet about this so I have had to lay low, but a
friend of mine at Roland has shown me the VG-99 in person. It's
stunning.

I'd like to congratulate everybody who took the time to write their
next-generation ideas on the VG-8.com wiki. Roland used this list
extensively in developing the VG-99. I am amazed how they included
almost everything we asked for (and everything I considered
reasonable) plus some more ideas we didn't even dare suggest.

Take a look at this page and you have a 98% accurate description of
the 99.
http://vg-8.com/wiki/Next_Generation_VG

Some highlights for me include:
Large LCD screen
Incredibly deep programmability / effects tweakability
Desktop device by design, but easily rack mountable
Excellent Foot controller in the FC-300 with a bright display
The editing software is cross platform and beautifully done.
GI-20 embedded within, aka Guitar to MIDI conversion
All the effects of a GT-Pro (x2)
Inputs and outputs galore (digital, USB, etc.)
New design, very lightweight (another black stealth bomber device
wouldn't turn heads like this can)

There are plenty of things we didn't think of either, like the ribbon
controller and integrated D-Beam thing.

I hate to highlight what it doesn't have, but just so you know, we
still don't have wireless GK, GK out, or built in midi sounds.

Aure
