Don't know exactly about the Freeway by Godin, but with other piezzo-equipped guitars it helped a lot when I turned the COSM-guitar tone down to some 50 %....

That slot is it, it's actually a dip switch that you can move across with a jewellers screwdriver or a tooth pick.. You would need really good eyes to see it...
