Greetings Drummers and Dancers!
Just an update to let you know that registration rates are going up later this week (after tomorrow, July1) ~ if you think you might be coming, please go to the dancingvillage.com website for registration info and contact info. You can also request a registration extension if you need a few more days ~ we'd love to have you join us. We are looking for a headcount so we can plan the right food amounts, etc. There are also still a few work exchange positions. We hope you can make it! It will be amazing and fun!!!

Greetings dancers and drummers --
Here's the latest news on Camp Fareta 2009, Youssouf Koumbassa's West African drum and dance camp in central California. First, the bad news: we have found out that we must leave camp on the afternoon of Saturday, July 18 rather than Sunday, July 19. We're disappointed that camp is shorter than last year and that we don't have a real weekend option for local folks. We hope you will be able to take some time off from life back home and join us anyway! The full camp dates are July 12-18.
We will be having sabar classes again this year! Aziz Faye will be joining us and it promises to be a blast! Also for the balafon players out there, Lansana Kouyate will teach group balafon classes for a $25 fee (maybe less) per person, as long as we get at least 6 bala players. Let us know if you're interested. He'll definitely be at camp -- we're not sure what days yet -- and he'll be available for private lessons as well. He'll be playing for classes and he's an amazing presence around the fire at night!
Check the website -- http://www.dancingvillage.com/camp_fareta.php -- for information on registration, work-exchange, Kids Camp, artists confirmed thus far, and more. Rates go up July 1, so if you haven't registered yet, be sure to do it soon. Youssouf and the rest of the crew hope to see you at Camp Fareta this summer!
peace,
christina

As usual, we'll
have Kids Camp for the young ones, some beginner-level
classes, fun evening events, including great drum jams, and a gourmet international menu that
campers continue to rave about. We'll also have some djembe technique classes taught by senior students. The camp has a lake for swimming and
boating and it's near Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks, so it's a
beautiful vacation for nature-lovers too!
