Welcoming new members -- Grace and Gabby -- to the AnJum family! Grace has been
dancing/performing for quite a while, with a versatile background that includes
cabaret and flamenco. Gabby has been studying with Nika for over a year and is
going to be an awesome addition! Their debuts were this weekend at the
Claremont ArtWalk, Upland Music & Arts Festival, and Bombay Bistro.

Thanks to Paquita, Azari, and El Amar for guest dancing at Bombay Bistro last
night. Beautiful women, gorgeous dancing, and enjoyable music -- as always! I am
embarrassed about the disrespectful and/or ignorant drummer & musician. They
were informed.

We've got activities scheduled that might be right up your alley,
Vic.

she's here.

Fusion Combos and Drills.  $20.  Preregistration required.

-Sunday, November 15th from 3-5pm Dark Fusion combos /

$30 at the door.

Both workshops are limited to 15 people.  Contact

VILLAGE MANDALA - DANCING TO LIVE DRUMS / ZIL PRACTICE
Mark your calendars for Wednesday November 25th, Thursday December
31st, and Wednesdays January 27th, February 24th  and March 24th,
2010 - as times TM is in the house with VM.  Bring your zils.
Dress up in tribal gear.  It's a good way to have fun and practice
dancing to live percussion.  Let me know if you plan to come.  I
will plan to be there.

HOLIDAY GATHERING
Join us for a gathering in the new studio on SATURDAY, DECEMBER
12th at noon.  Robin, and other TM members will be
selling/recycling dance and Ren-Faire costumes.
It's potluck - bring food to share.  Glo plans to bring feather
head dresses to sell.
Barbara will show you how to make and use dreadlocks.  We'll share
information about costuming and just enjoy being with each other.
Time is noon until 4. (We will have CTBD class at the old-current
studio that morning as usual.  This event is after the class).
Anyone interested in swapping, selling, buying costumes pieces is
welcome to come to this event.  Just give Robin a call -

====

ZUMBA GOLD
I am now teaching Zumba classes in the Packing House in the new
studio - suite 212 on the 2nd floor Saturdays at 9am.  More Zumba
classes will be added soon.

====

TM AUDITIONS
TM Auditions will be held Tuesday evening, January 12, 2010.  Be
sure to mark your calendar and get a copy of the Audition
guidelines from Robin.  TM auditions are open to anyone interested
in learning our ATS-based combination.

====

REN FAIRE 2010
We will be submitting a proposal to dance at the Southern
California Renaissance Festival as featured performers in 2010.
The Faire is seven weekends, April 10 - May 23, 2010, 10:00AM until
7:00PM. The SCHOOL DAY is April 23, 2010, 9:30AM until 3:30PM.
Auditions are likely to be in January.  If you are interested in

Yasmina, 'The English Rose of Cairo', has studied, performed and lived the world of oriental dance for more than 25 years. Discovering the form in Morocco in 1983, she began training in London with various teachers, and performed in many of the capital's Arab nightclubs during the late 1980's. Then she began accepting contracts abroad, including India, and an eighteen-month tour of Italy. In 1989 Yasmina began performing regularly in the Middle East, leaving London to dance full-time. Starting with a six-month stay in Morocco, a fitting return to the place where her original passion had been kindled, she danced in many Middle Eastern countries including Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates (Dubai and Abu Dhabi), Syria and Jordan, before arriving solo in Egypt in the summer of 1995.

Redirecting her style to modern Egyptian with the help of Raqia Hassan and Ibrahim Akef, she quickly secured a contract at the Meridien Heliopolis, where she performed nightly for 3 years. Yasmina has remained in Cairo ever since, appearing with her orchestra at major Cairo venues such as Safir, Pyramisa and the Semiramis Intercontinental hotels, the Nile Maxime, Tivoli Heliopolis, as well as hundreds of weddings and parties in Cairo and around Egypt.

For the past ten years Yasmina has travelled to teach at sold-out workshops and festivals world-wide, and continues to perform and to study the dance, firmly believing that "it is an ongoing journey of discovery from which you never stop learning." She is a founder member of the Farha Tour, a traveling Egyptian show which has so far toured the UK twice. This is her US/NYC debut!

In 2002 she gave birth to her son, Azzedine, and has widened her cultural understanding of Egypt by coming full-circle and incorporating her original training into her life; she works as a photo-journalist in Cairo and writes regularly for several Egyptian and foreign publications. Her deep knowledge and immersion into the local oriental dance culture enriches her teaching. Add to that her ability to break down and explain the movements in English.

Yasmina says: "The day I was swept away by the sounds of Egyptian music and took my first steps down the road of oriental dance, I could never have imagined where that road would lead. To me, this dance has brought much joy, fulfillment, and depth of self-expression, as I believe it has and will do for countless others."No matter how small or great a part it plays in your life, it is always life-enhancing and ultimately good for the soul."

Hi Friends,

I will be hosting family drumming at the L.A. County Arboretums' Halloween
event, The 'Goblins in the Garden'. It runs from 9am until 1pm in Ayers Hall and
adjacent lawns. Drummers, toting drums, and their guests will be offered free
admission as 'event supporters'. If you are in a position to support The
Arboretum, admission is $8/adult & $10/child, or you can purchase a family
membership that gets you entrance to many So. Cal. botanical gardens.

Enter through the Ayers Hall gates at the north end of the parking lot before
9am. After 9 arrivals may go through the main gate (tell them you're supporting
the event), or the Ayers Hall walk-in gate, it will only look locked. I'm not
sure how the main gate attendants will respond to drummers..and guests, so the
Ayers Hall gate is your best bet. You may contact Jacki Capen on the day of the
event at 617/276-2946 if you cannot find the correct entrance, or need
assistance with any equipment. She is the event organizer who gave me permission
to distribute her # to drummers.

For additional details visit the link below and click Goblins in the Garden
link, send me a FB message, or email me at brian.dambrosiadonner@....
Should be a fun, rhythmic day. I hope to see you there.

Peace & rhythm,
Brian

YASMINA of CAIRO

Buddy Walk - October 18

vic brown,

On Sunday, October 18, I will be walking in the 8th Annual Inland Valley Buddy Walk to show my support for the more than 350,000 individuals with Down syndrome in the United States. I have signed up to be a team captain and want to do my part to make sure that each individual is given every opportunity to reach his or her full potential.

Every step I take, every dollar I raise, will help ensure that each individual with Down syndrome in the United States will be able to do just that. Last year alone, over $6.5 million dollars was raised nationwide for local and national education, research and advocacy programs.

I am asking you to Buddy Walk with me to make a difference for people with Down syndrome in our community and help Up For Down, the Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles and the National Down Syndrome Society create change nationwide.

Click on the Web site link below to visit my personal Buddy Walk page and join my team today!

See you at the 8th Annual Inland Valley Buddy Walk!
