A true international project, Salsa Sin Fronteras was recorded in
part Medellin Colombia, Paris France, Barcelona Spain and mastered
in Switzerland. It's the premier solo project of Jorge Gali — a
Cuban pianist residing in Geneva. Wear proper protection when
handling this disk, please. It is hot, hot, hot. Gali chose
Colombia's Diego Galé and his rhythm section to be featured on Salsa
Sin Fronteras. Try hard not to get confused: Gali and Galé: two
distinct factions working with one goal in mind... killer dance
music that rocks the house. And man did they ever succeed. If I had
heard this disk a just a few weeks ago it would have made it to my
Best of 2005 list. As it is, I'll have to fudge the date for 2006
consideration.
Most of these original tracks were penned and arranged by Gali, and
they reflect a true-to-form hard salsa dura spirit, with each track
leaving a thick cloud of smoke behind. With sizzling vocals provided
by Néstor Rivero and Cuba's Donaldo Flores, Juan Diaz "El Indio" and
Edisney Portales.
