Editor's Pick:
Highly energized Latin jazz release by percussionist Oliva, who
brings Lucumí traditions into his work. Much of the material,
including the opening track, "Aché Elegua" is a tour-de-force of
chops-manship in the spirit of Cuba's Irakere. Mr. Oliva's congas
and his muscle-packed rhythm section, including Ariel Cuevas on
drums and Jorge Carbonell on bongos and timbales, is the backbone of
most of the arrangements here, handling the many breaks and sharp
