This week's Disc Of The Week is Ray Rodriguez y Swing Sabroso's Baila Con Swing Sabroso. Once in awhile a great disc comes along and surprises you. This disc from Swing Sabroso is that disc. Their has been a abundance of new Salsa CD's coming out as of late, many with little or no substance, but Ray Rodriguez's work has all the makings of a classic. His
tribute to Barretto is outstanding, but the standout track from the CD is the Grooving title track Baila con Swing Sabroso. This is a dance floor must!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is great to hear a band led by a baritone sax player. Visit Ray's sites and purchase this fine CD.
Since its inception in 2001, Ray Rodriguez & Swing Sabroso have generated a
growing number of loyal fans with a hot Salsa Dura sound. The group's distinctive style is the result of the unique and extensive musical backgrounds of the band's individual members, who have performed and recorded with some of the most recognizable names in Latin music before joining together to integrate Swing Sabroso.
Ray Rodriguez & Swing Sabroso have just released their debut album appropriately entitled Baila con Swing Sabroso, which has been getting great reviews by specialized media. For the recording, the group enlisted the collaboration of experienced arrangers Oscar Hernández,Paquito Pastor and Willie Ruiz. It also features special guest appearances by Dave Valentín, Ray Vega, Pablo Chino Núñez and Pequeño Johnny Rivero.
