Dear Agatka,

If you are not already familiar with Masha's Vysotsky web-site, then you
should check it out.

http://www.kulichki.com/vv/ is the Russian version (most complete)

http://www.kulichki.com:8105/vv/eng/ is the English version (which includes
translations of many of his songs into English)

http://www.kulichki.com:8100/vv/intl/polska/ has a little information about
Wlodzimierz Wysocki

There are also pages in Czech, German, French, and Dutch.

There is also an active Vysotsky forum (in Russian) at
http://ubb.kulichki.net/ubb-cgi/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number=53
which currently has the first eight topics displayed as follows:

hi,
I just want to say'Hello" to everybody as I am a new member of your
group and I hope it will be an unteresting experience.
Why I joined it?Well,I come from Poland and I am the final-year
student of Russian ,therefore ,I like Russian music , but the real
reason is that I am searching any informaton connected with Vysotskij
as I am going to organize a kind of presentation about him with my
pupils.I have started to work as a teacher and I am suppossed to
organize in my school so called"RUSSIAN DAYS" and Vysotkij is going to
be a key topic.

Maybe somebody from the group could help me?I will be grateful for
any useful ideas:)

    With best wishes,

Right, then,
here´s question number one: Would anyone be interested in swopping
vinyl records with me? I´ve got a great deal of those "На концертах
Владимира Высоцкого"-things from the eighties, but not a
complete run.
Most of the records I could swop are unplayed.
Also: Does anyone know of some self-made tapes that were used in the
sixties and seventies in the SU? Perhaps we can swop here, too? And:
What has become of Mustafidi´s, Kryzhanovski´s and the Listovs´
collections? Any of these in the new museum? Any leads? Addresses?
Thanks.

Second question: What is "Расстрел горного эха" about, you
think? Is it
an allegory on the poet´s life, or on any poets´ lives in
dictatorships? Telling people the truth, and so on? And if it is so,
why is it not mentioned on those websites I have visited? Wouldn´t it
be a magnificent way of introducing Vysotsky´s work?

Regards,

Toni Theilmeier, Belm, Germany.

Good morning, everyone,
after having been a "member" of this group for the best part of three
weeks and not having received a single message during this time, I
thought I might give up my lurking and introduce myself.

Ive a long-standing interest in Vysotsky, reaching back to the
beginning of the eighties when I took some summer courses in what then
was the SU, meeting people there who had attended his concerts and who
had known the man. I started a small collection of his works, and wrote
my diploma thesis on him.

Besides, Ive found a good knowledge of his lyrics very handy for
quoting off and on, like in official speeches, because nobody seems to
know him over here and you can show some erudition without straining
yourself :-)

Regards,

Toni. Theilmeier, Belm, Germany.

It is a great idea! Unfortunatelly I live in Ohio, Cleveland, and it would be
somewhat compicated to get together for me. May be we could organize something
somewhere in between? :-)

I wrote this 5 years ago. Never expected to win. Just want you guys to read it.
Thanks.

Hi, Irene.

I am unconditional Vysotsky's fan. Since being twelve
( I am 45 now) I
have been listening to his songs. He is a big part of
my life. To say the least I had learned to play guitar
just because I wanted to sing his songs and I still do
that. I know most of his songs and poetry. But what
intrigues me the most is that people like yourself,
without any knowledge of Prussian language could get
exited by just listening to his songs. Lets face it:
there is no music in those songs, just poetry. And you
are not the first english speaking person I know, who
is getting exited by listening to Vysotsky.
I was always convinced that real art has no
nationality. If its is real talent. Regardless which
language it was written in.
Thanks a lot for your e-mail.

No, I don't speak russian, but If I can learn to speak it and write

I have seen some pictures of Vysotsky, and one of them I think it was
his tomb. The sculpture was inspired of the song of Fastidous Horses?

thanks!

I am certain that you know something about what recently happened in
School No. 1 in Beslan, North Ossetia, Russia.

I am just as certain that if Vladimir Vysotsky were alive today, he
would be among those most active in extending help to the victims.

If you would like to help but don't know how, check out
