Meredith,
I went to Manhattan for four years studying with David Wells. It was
not "liberating" but at that time I wanted to get my classical playing
up to a professional level. Back then I had a roommate for a while from
Wenatchee! Do you know violist Scott Hosfelt?
I share your frustration with finding like minded musicians. I have the
same problem. Musicians will stand on their heads and whistle Dixie for
$100, but most do not want to invest their time to create a band that
could make millions. All I can say is being a musician is a journey.
Sometimes you don't end up on the shore you were expecting to go. But
hey, wasn't Columbus trying to get to India?
