Friends,
This Thursday, Feb 22, Jim Testa and I are going to be holding the first event in a new songwriting and ideas series in Williamsburg. I'll be performing at the first event along with two extremely talented songwriters, Ben Krieger (http://www.benkrieger.com) and Cameron Hull (http://www.cameronhull.com). Before the scheduled performers, from 7-8, we'll be holding something of an open mic. The first five musicians/reader/pedants/preachers to show up can have the stage for 10 minutes each. I hope you'll consider coming down to Stain and checking out the show and the series (see below for description). And if you'd like to perform - songs or something else - let us know!
Best,
Dan Skinner

New Songs and New Ideas
This series features new songwriters on the last Thursday of every month, from 7:00-11:15 pm. Sets consist of 35-40 minutes of lyrically driven and timely songs, commentaries, readings, propaganda, sermons, exercises in public therapy, etc and beyond. The first hour, from 7-8, consists of “something of an open mic” for songwriters to try out their newest material. The first five performers to show up are welcomed to perform. Scheduled performances are slated for 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30.
Admission to bar/café is free. Stain serves a range of wines and beers and coffee at reasonable prices. There is a happy hour from 5-8, free wireless internet and, on the best days, an A+ cat. Stain is EASY to get to (10 minutes from Union Square). Take the L train to Grand Street (4th stop in Brooklyn) and walk west one block on Grand Street.
