Hey wefesters,
Does anyone in New Jersey have a spare bed, couch, or floor on the night of
Wednesday, July 23? My wife and I are traveling from Maine to DC and looking
for a place to sleep. We'll probably get into northern NJ around midnight and
we'll take off in the early am. Let me know if you would like to help out some
friendly travelers...
Thanks,
Jamez/VK
Hey, it's your old pal Jim Testa. And Lord knows I don't beg anybody to come to my shows all that often. I didn't even bother you when I played Maxwell's last weekend.
But this is different.
Legendary Minneapolis music journalist Jim Walsh (he wrote that oral history of the Replacements) also performs as a folk performer under the name The Mad Ripple. He is bringing his very own hootenanny to NYC for a 7 day residency, and he's asked me to kick off the show on Saturday, July 19.
Also performing that night will be Kraig Johnson (of the Jayhawks and Run Westy Run) and Brenda Kahn. Jim Walsh aka The Mad Ripple will headline.
I go on at 7 pm and it's FREE. Please try to come to this show!!!
SATURDAY, JULY 19 -- Banjo Jim's, 700 E 9th St at Ave C, 7 pm, free, 21+

Hey All,
Since I wasn’t able to make it to WeFest this year, I
ended up spending my time doing spring cleaning and
while digging through some boxes I found video I took
during my first trip to WeFest in 2000. So here it is
for everyone’s enjoyment, xbxrx performing live at
WeFest 2000 in Wilmington, NC.

I ran across this on www.boingboing.net of a band that did the following:
The Get Out Clause, an unsigned Manchester band who could not afford a
camera crew for their video, 'performed' in front of a load of CCTV
cameras, requested the footage from the camera operators under the Data Protection Act and then stitched the results together for their music video.
It's not a excellent song, but what a nutty great concept. Here's an article form the telegraph in the UK about the video/band.
Any New Englanders driving down to WEfest? I'm trying to decide if I
can afford to go this year, and it would help if I could carpool with
someone. I'd be coming from Maine...

I'll see you there Ziggy (and all the rest!)

The list has been quiet for a bit, but if you have been on Pluto and did not hear, WEfest is happening again this year. I would suggest hitting the www.wefestival.com website if you have not been there recently. This email is basically calling out folks to see if I get the pleasure of seeing you this year at WEfest. Since I'm basically just teaching these days, I'm able to be there for the entire festival and I really hope to catch up with each of you over a beer or pizza or arguing what show was the best in previous WEfests. I hope to see you and I hope to hear from you.

hello, friends!!
i hope y'all are well. i always feel like i have to apologize for being so out
of communication. these days, i don't get on a computer every day. i'm working
as a bike messenger in dc and, thought i'm trying to get out, i don't think the
economy's going to let me. please know i think about our lil' we scene often,
and if thoughts could escape the head like post cards, your bulletin boards
would be full of mine!
i digress. i was told by kenyatta a couple weeks ago that individual we festers
are booking individual nights this year. are any of you individual bookers on
this list? do you have any space on your respective night? the band i play with,
olivia & the housemates, loves we fest and wants to come sit on the beach and
play rock music and hang out with friends.
please drop me a line if you can help, and i promise i'm doing better about
getting back to people!

Just want to let everyone know that HIGH SPEED CHASE was looking good due to your support in the voting at www.fearlessmusic.com. We were in first place and cruising. Unfortunately, due to a glitch in the polling software, a ton of votes were lost for all the bands. Fearless has assured us this mistake has been fixed. But now we're behind in second place.
Hence, we are begging you to PLEASE VOTE AGAIN. And if you haven't voted yet or seen the full performance of "Hate! Now!" that was featured this past Saturday on Fearless Music TV (Fox 5 NY), there's never been a better time.
www.fearlessmusic.com to vote (the lower right hand corner). Then click "video" up top, type in High Speed Chase in search and the video is ready for your perusal.
Our apologies to bother you again about this but we want to make sure your votes counted so again, please, you're helping us dream big with your support. Thanks to you all and hopefully you'll be seeing HSC again on Fearless Music TV very soon.
Big mucho thanks to everyone who tuned in tonight to watch HIGH SPEED CHASE on Fearless Music TV.
We watched the show locally in Hoboken at our favorite watering hole, LOUISE & JERRY'S and shared the viewing with about 100 people as the episode aired. Mad thanks to Pat and Rusty for being cool enough to turn off the juke box and let everyone check out the show as it aired live! We went over like gang-busters!
BUT we have been informed that if HIGH SPEED CHASE wants to get another shot at more air-time on Fearless Music TV, we need friends, fans, family, and anyone else who gives a damn, to vote for us.
That's right, WE NEED YOUR VOTES @ www.fearlessmusic.com. As of now we're in the race of the top three vote getters. With your help, we'll get another shot so please, please, please cast your votes. It's as simple as clicking on the link, going to the bottom right hand of the home page and choosing HIGH SPEED CHASE.
This is a nationally syndicated show that is viewed by well over 1/2 million people in over 30 markets SO help make us the rock-stars you think we should be. VOTE, baby, VOTE!
Thanks again to everyone at Fearless Music, all of our friends, fans, family, and anyone else who gives a damn for being there for us.
Yes -- HIGH SPEED CHASE are on!!! Our good buddies at FEARLESS MUSIC TV (www.myspace.com/fearlessmusic) are airing the very episode we shot way back in May, 2007 this
SATURDAY, FEB. 23RD, 12:30AM on FOX 5 NY.
If you are not in the NYC area, then don't hesitate to check out Fearless Music's Myspace page to see where they air in you locale.
We'll be featured, performing "Hate! Now!" with a solid group of fellow musicians. So this must not be missed! BUT if you can't see the show on the actual air date, then either set your DVR or check out the full performance at www.fearlessmusic.tv.
You will be more than pleased to see what a great job they did making us look and sound like the rock-stars that we think we are in our minds. So check it out and show your love for the little show that could -- Fearless Music TV!
Hope you dig -- I'm sure you will! Drop a line to let us know what you thought of the show.
Hi folks,
Just thought I'd send out to dear WEfest folk a little note on this band
that has been taking me on some fine phonic/experiencial trips at the last
couple of shows. They are called The Chilling Details. I am in no way
affiliated with them, except for having met them after being floored by
them, but I just think they kick ass. is all.
You can find them on myspace easily enough, or click on this link (hope it
works) and it should take you to that myspace profile:
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=856040\
0
Or they have their own fine site at:
http://www.thechillingdetails.com/index.cfm
Hope y'all like'em too.
Later,
Gus

Rich Mackin of funny letter spoken word fame. It's been a few years since I last came down to Wilmington (partially because I live in Oregon, partially because we have a big week long fest the same time, and partially because after 12 years, I stopped wanting to do the act) I have seen many of you, heck, I actually stayed on WEfester couches in Phoenix, Albuquerque and Denver in the same week once.
Anyhoo, I actually play drums in a sorta acoustic-rock/ folkpunk/ something band with my fiance, Blair (the band name wrote itself) that I'd love to share with any of you who remind me of your addresses- or give me your current one.
I am sad to report the passing of Byron McDonald, the former drummer of Spite. Chris Boone called me late last night to let me know and i will pass on any information i recieve, but i am not sure of the arrangments at this time. I am attaching the link to the newspaper article i found this morning regarding the accident.

Just want to thank everyone (friends, fans, partners in crime, and fellow performers) for making my little B-day weekend AMAZING!
The weekend started with a kick with the HIGH SPEED CHASE performance for M.E.A.N.Y. FEST at Maxwell's (thanks Denise and the rest of the gang, and big thanks to Ground To Machine for providing the backline and hauling Jay's trapcase. Plus mad props to the Maxwell's staff for being so very cool. And to Rich Audible for rockin' sick sound). Thanks to all who took advantage of the free admin provided by going.com and by representing bigtime. Jak Tripa party in the house, eh?
If that wasn't enough, the following day, my honey-darling, A/K/A Snookums - Donna Donna treated me to the most decadent meal you could ask for at Frankie & Johnnie's. It felt as if Rome was burning and we provided the lamp-oil. What a dinner!!!! Mucho, mucho thank you baby!!!
Then of course, no over-reaching, self-inflicted, stress inducing Gibby Gibson B-day weekend would be complete without the daunting task of handling this year's GIBBYPALOOZA at the Beel Media Loft this past Saturday.
What a sick, frackin' night! First of all mad props to Beel and Frank for hosting the fantabulous event in the live/work space. Provide the venue and the fixin's but the food and booze as well. You Mutha's rock!
Thanks to all of you who managed to deal with the giant sauna that the room eventually became -- it's usually cooler this time of year, eh? But, I also must take partial blame for booking so many HOT performers -- LAS VANDELAYS, TROY "THE ENIGMA" WISE, LIN McEWAN, BARBIANA COMPLEX, DAVE CALAMONERI, END OF OCTOBER, JON D'ANGELO, CREWMAN NUMBER SIX, JASON DELLA VALLE, HIGH SPEED CHASE (thanks to my band Brethren Big Time!), DAVE "BUTTASPY" ENTWISTLE joined by a surprise performance from EDLY SMITHLY & JEBBE ROSE of THE FAVE, BEEL BAND, POWER COUSIN, & JAK TRIPA.
Two stages + boundless talent = one massive group of awesome friends and fellow musicians!
And we couldn't have done it without the new King of Ebb & Flow -- STEPHEN BAILEY -- a flat out phenominal emcee'ing job!
It was great to see so many friends (some of whom I've know for over 20+ years) and fans as well -- thanks so very much for the kind gifts (everything from spiritual healing and well-being to liver rotting booze)! It's all of your support and encouragement that keeps me going throughout all of the trials and tribulation of this insane world.
I cross-over from one half of life to the other and I can only hope that I continue to have all of you along for the ride.
That's right, dear friends. HIGH SPEED CHASE is ready to rock the Fall before taking a long break to begin recording our new CD. So the following gigs must not be missed!
THURSDAY, OCT. 4TH (HIGH SPEED CHASE ON @10:30PM)
MAXWELL'S, 1039 Washington Street, Hoboken, NJ 201-798-0406
Then of course, for the sixth straight year, the return of
GIBBYPALOOZA! SATURDAY, OCT. 6TH. (HIGH SPEED CHASE ON @11:15PM)
THE LOFT - 721 GRAND STREET (BTWN 7TH & 8TH), 3L - TOP FLOOR, HOBOKEN, NJ
(call Frank for more info if need be --- 201-705-6816) FESTIVITIES BEGIN @7PM
This is my B-Day party and you'll all invited. $10 bucks gets you open bar, food, and great music from:
Las Vandelays, Troy The Enigma, Lin McEwan, Barbiana Complex, Dave Calamoneri, End Of October, Jon, D'Angelo, Crewman Number Six, Jason Della Valle, HIGH SPEED CHASE, Dave Buttaspy, Beel Band, Power Cousin, & Jak Tripa.
I just got this message from my momma. It took me 1 minute to register. I thought you might wanna do this if you haven't already.
