Hey, I've been given the okay to announce the official website for AL FEST is
ready to go! So, here it is...

http://www.AlFest2009.com

AL FEST is an all day celebration, named for our favorite comedy musician,
"Weird Al" Yankovic, being held at the Holiday Inn in Costa Mesa, CA, on
Saturday, August 1, 2009.

Special events include a presentation by Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz, Al's drummer
since 1981, a slack-key guitar performance by Jim "Kimo" West, Al's guitar
player since 1982, and a "UHF" 20th anniversary celebrity panel featuring
Victoria Jackson, Gedde Watanabe, and Jay Levey!

Please visit the website for additional activities, rumors, gossip, innuendo and
news flashes.

See ya there!

first of all,i have not even heard the song "Beer Song" but
anyway, unless it's on his albums, and to my recollection it isn't,then
Al never did it. He has done some parodies and songs for concerts only
but again that was not one of them. I understand he's doing some songs
for an upcoming Album,so unless i see a track list, that song may or ma
not be one of them. hope that helps. I know once on Napster, and this
was years ago when it was free,i saw a song supposedly by Weird Al
called "F*** The Macarena!" which parodied The Macarena song and when i
listened to it it sounded like Adam Sandler but i haven't seen that on
any track list of Adam's. go figure.

Well, as Al's number 27,375,843th fan, I really don't know whether or
not that Beer Song is his? My reaction was no way! He also gets
credited with "Which Back Street Boy's Gay", and no way is that his
style. (Got it on Ebay, yes!)

So, lemme know.
Thanks!

You all probably have seen this stuff, but if not, there it is.

The clip I saw was on MSN for a little bit, but they switch them out
often.

Enjoy!

yeah that's why i said 2009 because this is only a single. i'm sure
he'll release more songs as time goes on. Can't wait to hear the rest
of the parodies and originals, when they are released.

(revised 2-27-08) (10th Anniversary)

Happy Weird Al Day :)
I didn't know there was a Weird Al Day...where did you find out about it?

Happy Weird Al Day!!! (revised 2-27-08) (10th Anniversary)Yup!The 27th of each
month is an excuse to celebrate Weird Al Day!On a side note: October 27, 2002
was the biggest Weird Al Day ever! That's because in most of the U.S., it's the
daywhere we reset our clocks back one hour to go from Daylight SavingTime to
Standard Time, except in Arizona and EasternIndiana, to get an extra hour of
sleep, or to celebrate WAY DAY!BTW: The first Weird Al Day was initiated on June
27, 1998!But in an August 13, 1997 posting in alt.music.weird-al, Richard
Birdhad the subject: Happy "Weird Al" Day!!!, meaningthat it's HIS Weird Al Day,
four years to the day since he became afan. What did he do?"...I'm going to
celebrate it by lisening to all my ALbums, andwatching all my Weird Al videos!
Oh, and eating Oreos, and Twinkie Weiner sandwiches. Which reminds me, I've gotta
go to thegrocery store!"FACT: When its November 27th, there are 27 days between
it and Christmas! And now, finally, it's on the web right
here:http://www.davesfunstuff.com/27news/2720a27l.htmAlthough Oct 23rd is the
yearly celebration of Weird Al Yankovic'sbirthday, this special monthly
observance is setaside so that we can appreciate the hard work Weird Al has
createdsince the 1900's.In fact, according to my Suntime and Holiday almanac,
the 27th ofEVERY month is Weird Al Day!Why 27th? Because we can't do it on the
32nd day of the month, that's why!So, let's celebrate Weird Al Day!There is a
rumored Weird Al Bonus Day every February 7th, or 2-7, butwe've just uncovered
the mystery of this date. Inone of the 'Ask Al' questions, Al mentioned that 2-7
is his mother'sbirthday.Of course, there's Weird Al Birth Day, THE big one when
he was bornOct 23, 1959. Some people celebrated his birthday byexchanging
presents or making peace with God. Some sang Weird Alcarols, but I have no
documentation to back that rumorup. How you MAY celebrate Weird Al Day:If putting
expiration dates on items that are dated the 27th, write inbelow it "Happy WAY
Day!"Buy a hat for a poodle, run with blunted scissors, or put on a wig ofbad
hair. This item is for radio station employees: host a brief interview withWeird
Al via phone or in the studio and play atleast a track from any of his albums.
On May 27, 2003, 91X in SanDiego played "Couch Potato", and morning deejay
ChrisCantore interviewed Al on the phone. At 27 minutes past the hour, everybody
sing a verse from ANY of WeirdAl's songs for 60 seconds, no more, no less.
Thesecond its 28 minutes past the hour, stop immediately, no exceptions;if
you're in the middle of a sentence, just stopimmediately. Be sure the clock is
in sync with the actual time. When tipping pizza delivery guys (including me, be
sure to make thedigits in the tip include the digits "2" and "7" inorder
(preferrably in amounts over $1). Examples: $1.27, $2.70, $27(for really big
orders).Wear the ugliest Hawaiian shirt you can get.Wear a Weird Al T-shirt or
cap ONLY on the 27th day of the month. Youmay wear it on the 14th if you wish,
but don'twear him out.Buy 27 of any item in a supermarket or department store.
Just don't gooverboard and buy 27 SUV's unless you need afleet for your
business.Playing an album or two of his, or your entire collection!Buy a Weird
AL CD for yourself, or as a gift!Convert a music fan into a Weird Al
fan!Massively request Weird Al songs on Radio Disney or your local
staiton!Announcing your own Weird Al web shrine on the web!Teaching your
children to memorize the melody, arrangement, and lyricsof any one Weird Al
song.Conduct a Super Weird Al Monthly Chat.Host a private Weird Al video party
where your party of friends gettogehter to watch UHF or Weird Al Live. The rest
isup to you.Telling a friend "Happy Weird Al Day, pass it on!" and explaining
thatit's a monthly celebration of the holiday on the27th day of each month.Make
a hard copy of this post and give it to a friend, and tell themto pass it on to
another friend, and so on. This isone way of spreading the news.Coming out....as
a WAY man or woman. If you're gay, straight, trans,or bi, it doesn't matter. All
that matters is thatyou are a WAY fan.Buy 27 of any item in a supermarket or
department store. Just don't gooverboard and buy 27 SUV's unless you need afleet
for your business. How you MAY NOT celebrate Weird Al Day:By using the day as an
excuse to take a day off from work; your bossmay not understand.By spamming this
list to anyone by e-mail or to other USENETnewsgroups. You are not permitted to
redistribute this postin any form whatsoever.By shoplifting Al's CD's from the
record stores. You will go to prisonupon being convicted to the fullest extent
of thelaw.By sending other people Weird Al MP3's you either made yourself
orgotten from other people. If you like the MP3's andyou don't own the CD, go
out and buy the CD's!By FAXing this to anybody. Unsolicited faxes are illegal in
most lawbooks.By posting illegal MP3's or MP4's of Weird Al's songs on the
Internet,USENET, or by Napster (or any day for thatmatter).Where are the 27

I, too, am very sorry to hear all that you went through. Even though
we're just random people on the Internet, do know that others are
hoping for you to have the strength to make it through this, and if we
can help, just let us know.

Thanks Patti.

I'm at one of those "calm" periods, after lots of hysterical times
over the last few weeks. It isn't even a month.

The whole thing was a horror, from the moment the surgeon charged out
of the OR and announced "There was nothing I could do for him. He had
cancer all throughout his stomach. (he meant torso, and yes I know
i'm not a Doctor, but I DO know the difference.)"

He was talking about Scott in the past tense, and he was NOT DEAD at
that point.

The Dr.'s made this a nightmare more than it already was!!!!! The
nurses and support staff were, for the most part, great.

Fortunately, we all had time with Scott to tell him how much we cared
about him. He got lots of visitors and messages and love. We felt so
positive he would live, but the old positive thinking b.s. won't
change a thing when the body is under such an assault.

Before he died, I got to say "I love you" and he said "I love you."
Not everyone has that enormous luxury!!!!!

The emergeny folks then took him out to the ambulance and he passed
away without pain.

He was a great man and I'm sooooo lucky to have known him and
infinetly blessed that I was his wife. I loved him very much--still
love him! And, it's been hell.

I have lots of challenges ahead of me, and I'm completely frightened
and not looking forward to life without that magnificent man!

His death is wrong. It isn't fair. But it just IS and it hurts beyond
my ability to put it into words.

Thanks! Everyone in my life has been incredibly supportive and I
would not be still standing if it were not for our incredible
friends.

Scott was a HUGE Rush fan, and I'm finally reading their drummer Neil
Peart's book about when he lost his 19 y.o. daughter to a drunk
driver and then a year later, lost his wife of 22 years to cancer. He
dealt with it by getting on his motorcycle and just GOING. He stayed
at crappy hotels and visited old friends, wrote a journal and spent
time figuring out how and why he would want to live again.

Over the holiday, I'm spending some time with the folks that have
been friends from the beginning (more like family) who actually got
us together, played a little matchmaker and all. They've been close
friends ever since, and their son was with me when I got that ton of
bricks news dropped on me (and of course, Scott) when the Doctor
blurted out his own problems, of how he couldn't do it, etc.

It's a nightmare!!! Or rather, I wish it were. The worst thing about
this: I will survive. I don't want to, but I will.

I just spent a few days with Scott's brother, nephew, mom and my
sister in law, who is wonderful. It was sad, but I needed to be with
them and out of this big house, that only reminds me of how much I
love my husband.

Thanks everyone,
Love,
Betsy

Happy Weird Al Day!!! (revised 2-27-08) (10th Anniversary)

Yup!

The 27th of each month is an excuse to celebrate Weird Al Day!

On a side note: October 27, 2002 was the biggest Weird Al Day ever!
That's because in most of the U.S., it's the day
where we reset our clocks back one hour to go from Daylight Saving
Time to Standard Time, except in Arizona and Eastern
Indiana, to get an extra hour of sleep, or to celebrate WAY DAY!

BTW: The first Weird Al Day was initiated on June 27, 1998!

But in an August 13, 1997 posting in alt.music.weird-al, Richard Bird
had the subject: Happy "Weird Al" Day!!!, meaning
that it's HIS Weird Al Day, four years to the day since he became a
fan. What did he do?

"...I'm going to celebrate it by lisening to all my ALbums, and
watching all my Weird Al videos! Oh, and eating Oreos,
and Twinkie Weiner sandwiches. Which reminds me, I've gotta go to the
grocery store!"

FACT: When its November 27th, there are 27 days between it and Christmas!

And now, finally, it's on the web right here:
http://www.davesfunstuff.com/27news/2720a27l.htm

Although Oct 23rd is the yearly celebration of Weird Al Yankovic's
birthday, this special monthly observance is set
aside so that we can appreciate the hard work Weird Al has created
since the 1900's.

In fact, according to my Suntime and Holiday almanac, the 27th of
EVERY month is Weird Al Day!

Why 27th? Because we can't do it on the 32nd day of the month, that's why!

So, let's celebrate Weird Al Day!

There is a rumored Weird Al Bonus Day every February 7th, or 2-7, but
we've just uncovered the mystery of this date. In
one of the 'Ask Al' questions, Al mentioned that 2-7 is his mother's
birthday.

Of course, there's Weird Al Birth Day, THE big one when he was born
Oct 23, 1959. Some people celebrated his birthday by
exchanging presents or making peace with God. Some sang Weird Al
carols, but I have no documentation to back that rumor
up.

How you MAY celebrate Weird Al Day:

If putting expiration dates on items that are dated the 27th, write in
below it "Happy WAY Day!"

Buy a hat for a poodle, run with blunted scissors, or put on a wig of
bad hair.

This item is for radio station employees: host a brief interview with
Weird Al via phone or in the studio and play at
least a track from any of his albums. On May 27, 2003, 91X in San
Diego played "Couch Potato", and morning deejay Chris
Cantore interviewed Al on the phone.

At 27 minutes past the hour, everybody sing a verse from ANY of Weird
Al's songs for 60 seconds, no more, no less. The
second its 28 minutes past the hour, stop immediately, no exceptions;
if you're in the middle of a sentence, just stop
immediately. Be sure the clock is in sync with the actual time.

When tipping pizza delivery guys (including me, be sure to make the
digits in the tip include the digits "2" and "7" in
order (preferrably in amounts over $1). Examples: $1.27, $2.70, $27
(for really big orders).

Wear the ugliest Hawaiian shirt you can get.

Wear a Weird Al T-shirt or cap ONLY on the 27th day of the month. You
may wear it on the 14th if you wish, but don't
wear him out.

Buy 27 of any item in a supermarket or department store. Just don't go
overboard and buy 27 SUV's unless you need a
fleet for your business.

Playing an album or two of his, or your entire collection!

Buy a Weird AL CD for yourself, or as a gift!

Convert a music fan into a Weird Al fan!

Massively request Weird Al songs on Radio Disney or your local staiton!

Announcing your own Weird Al web shrine on the web!

Teaching your children to memorize the melody, arrangement, and lyrics
of any one Weird Al song.

Conduct a Super Weird Al Monthly Chat.

Host a private Weird Al video party where your party of friends get
togehter to watch UHF or Weird Al Live. The rest is
up to you.

Telling a friend "Happy Weird Al Day, pass it on!" and explaining that
it's a monthly celebration of the holiday on the
27th day of each month.

Make a hard copy of this post and give it to a friend, and tell them
to pass it on to another friend, and so on. This is
one way of spreading the news.

Coming out....as a WAY man or woman. If you're gay, straight, trans,
or bi, it doesn't matter. All that matters is that
you are a WAY fan.

Buy 27 of any item in a supermarket or department store. Just don't go
overboard and buy 27 SUV's unless you need a
fleet for your business.

How you MAY NOT celebrate Weird Al Day:

By using the day as an excuse to take a day off from work; your boss
may not understand.

By spamming this list to anyone by e-mail or to other USENET
newsgroups. You are not permitted to redistribute this post
in any form whatsoever.

By shoplifting Al's CD's from the record stores. You will go to prison
upon being convicted to the fullest extent of the
law.

By sending other people Weird Al MP3's you either made yourself or
gotten from other people. If you like the MP3's and
you don't own the CD, go out and buy the CD's!

By FAXing this to anybody. Unsolicited faxes are illegal in most lawbooks.

By posting illegal MP3's or MP4's of Weird Al's songs on the Internet,
USENET, or by Napster (or any day for that
matter).

Where are the 27 lists?

Since they tend to change from time to time, check out these web pages:

"Elvis": http://faq.at/The.27.List

"The 27 Conspiracy": http://www.lbstone.com/27/

"D.T.": http://www.davesfunstuff.com/27news/2720a27l.htm

You can purchase "Weird Al" Yankovic's CD's through my Weird Al
website courtesy of amazon.com as I am an associate of
Amazon.com and CD Now. Take your pick.

This page has tracks of all of the CD's you can get directly through

Some odd facts about the 27th of the month:

On November 27, 2000, The Beatles return to No. 1 on the Billboard 200
with a collection of their 27 chart-topping hits,
appropriately titled "1."

On Feb 27, 1979, Melody Thomas Scott first appears as "Nikki" on "The
Young and the Restless."

On June 27, 1999, Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 27th homer and robbed Juan
Gonzalez of a three-run shot with a spectacular,
over-the-fence catch as the Seattle Mariners beat the Texas Rangers
5-2 in the final game at the Kingdome.

Tony Randall's partner on The Odd Couple, Jack Klugman, was born on
April 27!

On Feb 27, 1980, when actress Susan Richardson was 27, she gave birth
to Sarah! Her TV dad Dick Van Patten of Eight is
Enough appearred in two of Weird Al's videos.

On Mar 27, 1995, "Forrest Gump" won six Academy Awards, including best
picture and a second consecutive Best Actor Oscar
for Tom Hanks; Weird Al made a song about Gump for "Bad Hair Day!"
This was also the day I bought a car for about
$21,000, now worth about $2,700!

On Sep 27, 1980, on the cover of TV Guide: "Cosmos with host Carl
Sagan". Guess he said "billions and billions" some 27
billion times in his lifetime!

On Feb 27, 1908, Star #46 was added to the U.S. flag on this day --
for Oklahoma, which had entered the union on
November 16, 1907. 11+16=27!

On May 27, 1994, "The Flintstones" live action movie opened in
theaters with a record weekend of $37.2 million.
Whimsical Will did an interview item "Hittin' Bedrock". Weird Al did
"Bedrock Anthem" for "Alapalooza"

On October 27, 2004, after going without a World Series win for 86
years, the Boston Red Sox finally win by beating the
St. Louis (Red) Cardinals under a red lunar eclipse of the moon in
just the first four out of seven games.

December 27, 1927, is the birthdate of Agnes Nixon, creator of two
soap operas on ABC, "One Life to Live", and "All My
Children."

Thank you, Kaffy and Stephanie,

This is the most difficult thing I've ever had to face, but I have to
go on; Scott would have wanted that.

Yes, if it weren't for my friends and family, and some friends who
are very much like family, I don't think I would be able to cope.

I appreciate all your kind words.

I guess you all got to know him a bit with my White and Nerdy
comparrison. Scott was proud to be a nerd! He dressed up as Dilbert
for Halloween, and believe me, it was not a stretch! Just a tie and
black highwater pants.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LjKn87Vzgg

That clip was about 10 or so years back. My husband is the blond.
Doesn't he look like Al?

He was a genius, read thick history books and technical manuels for
kicks. He was a self-less person who was always out helping others.
If a semi-stranger needed help with a computer, he would be at their
house, fixing things for them!

As aweful as this is, and as difficult it will be to live without
him, I wouldn't have changed a moment of our time together. I was
blessed every moment.

Thank you folks!
Love,
Betsy

Betsy,

I am deeply saddened to hear of the loss of your husband. I have lost
a couple of grandparents and an uncle to cancer, but I can only barely
begin to understand what losing your best friend and partner must be
like. It is a relief to learn that people from various circles are
coming forward to share in your grief and offer support. I hope that
knowing that so many others miss him and admired him may be of some
comfort to you someday. My thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. If there's anything I can do (aside from
being there in person), please let me know.

I'm sorry to say that my husband has passed away from cancer, we
didn't even know he had until the end of last month--and possibly
some medical mis-calculations. He was a wonderful man and he will be
missed by many. I loved him more than I can say, and I was blessed
beyond all measure to have my treasured uber-alpha-geek in my life
  for 15 wonderful years.

I am surrounded by the most incredible people, who are looking after
me and making sure that all the business stuff is taken care of.
Without them, I would not be able to stand up, or even contemplate
  living after Scott.

We had a memorial/wake for him this weekend, and the outpouring of
love and the overwhelming response from friends and colleagues, some
friends that go back for years and years. There was a whole
contingent of people that work with him...not just with his company
but with his company's CLIENTS!!! I keep babbling "incredible" but to
know Scott was indeed to love him and everyone who worked with him,
or knew him as a friend, well...he was an amazing man.

I will have some links, so that I can share some more about him with
  you.

  Betsy

We had a memorial/wake for him this weekend, and the outpouring of
love and the overwhelming response from friends and colleagues, some
friends that go back for years and years. There was a whole
contingent of people that work with him...not just with his company
but with his company's CLIENTS!!! I keep babbling "incredible" but to
know Scott was indeed to love him and everyone who worked with him,
or knew him as a friend, well...he was an amazing man.
