Hey, folks.

I'm new to this group - I just joined a few minutes ago, actually,
looking to see if there was more information here about some recent
tragic news. Since I saw none, I'm in the unfortunate position to
deliver it to all of you.

Al's parents, Nick and Mary Yankovic, were found dead in their home
on Friday as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning. Apparently they
had started a fire in the fireplace and did not open the flue.

Al still performed a scheduled concert in Mankato, Minn. Saturday
night, which was dedicated to his parents.

Here's a link with several articles about the tragedy:

8&sa=N&tab=nn.

I'm just heartbroken on what Al, his wife, and the rest of the band
must be going through right now on the road. (Though I imagine
they'll postpone whatever shows are coming up in the next few days.)
I've never had the pleasure of meeting Nick and Mary, but you could
tell from their appearances in several of Al's televised specials
that they were wonderful people who loved their son, and Al obviously
loved them dearly.

Nothing's been posted as of yet on www.weirdal.com - in fact it
appears Bermuda has closed down the site temporarily, as the
familiar "The page cannot be displayed" page comes up when you go to
it.

Anyway, sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I trust that next time I
post something it will be about something of a more positive nature!
