I am part of a production company run by Welsh comedians and as I have done
stand up in the US at various private functions over the years, I am under the
impression that there are many Welsh societies in the US who would welcome Welsh
performers.
If this is the case, it would be great to arrange a small tour to the US to
perform, and prosily make a documentary.
Do you have any contact details to assist me in pulling this off?

Calendr Castell Caerfilli / Caerphilly Castle Calendar 2010
My name is Fiona Thomas and I am the chair person of the Friends of School /
Cyfeillion Yr Ysgol, Ysgol Gynradd Gymareg Y Castell, Caerphilly. We are a group
of enthusiastic parents prepared to working to enhance the school lives of all
the children in the school.
I emailed many of you a year ago to tell you all about an exciting project we
were undertaking with the children of the school and Cadw.
We have produced a professional calendar for 2010 containing images of
Caerphilly Castle taken by the children of Ysgol Y Casetell. On the 22nd
October, we are holding an exhibition of the childrens work at the Great Hall,
Caerphilly Castle to officially launch the project.
We promised the children their calendar would be sold worldwide. To enure this
happens, we are appealing to Welsh people all over the world to support us by
buying calendars. This can be done by looking at the schools website
www.ysgolycastell.com and following the link to order a calendar via our paypal
account. Postage on multiple orders can be arranged. This might be a trip down
memory lane for some of you.
This project has become a labour of love. All proceeds will go directly towards
the old school hall which is undergoing redevelopment at the present time. This
hall will then be a combined school and community hall accessible to us all. A
true community venture.
If you have strong links with Caerphilly or just want to support a worthwile
Welsh project, please view the calendar on the website www.ysgolycastell.com or
contact me directly for more information. I will be happy to answer any
questions. Please include our story in any local newsletters or webpages you
might have.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for your support, Diolch yn fawr iawn.

ATTENTION ALL WELSH ORGANIZATIONS:
Welsh organizations already affiliated with the Welsh National Gymanfa Ganu
Association (AWOs) are asked to send their updated contact information,
including mailing address, email and website to: Mona Everett, 1314 Woodvale
Drive, Madison, WI 53716 USA, or email it to mona_sydd_yma@..., as soon as
possible. The list becomes outdated when there is a change in the local
organization (new officers, etc.) and mail can be returned or misdirected.
(Requests for this information have already been mailed to both the postal and
email addresses on file, but not all are reaching the intended destinations. If
you have already updated your society's info, you will have received a
confirmation and you do not need to send another update.)
All Welsh organizations and societies are invited to become members of WNGGA,
by completing the membership application, available on the WNGGA website,
http://www.wngga.org/, and sending it to:
WNGGA Headquarters, Dr. Stacy Evans, Executive Director, P.O. Box 410,
Granville,
Ohio 43023, with a $50 one-time payment, which entitles the organization to a
lifetime membership in WNGGA. Member organizations receive the newsletter
(HWYL) and are entitled to vote during the Annual General Meeting, which is
held during the North American Festival of Wales (NAFOW). Perhaps the most
important benefit of joining WNGGA will be the opportunities for networking and
sharing of ideas among member societies, both at the annual NAFOW, and
throughout the year. By working together, we can all be better.
WNGGA works hard to support local Welsh societies and organizations.
Won’t you support WNGGA by joining now?

Saint David’s Day
time to start thinking about how you, your friends, schools and colleagues will
be celebrating our Patron Saint’s special day. Following the incredible success
of 2009’s civilian National Saint David’s Day Parade (NSDDP) when over ten
thousand enthusiastic participants and onlookers filled the streets of Cardiff,
there are two things that can be transferred to anywhere in the whole world to
help you feel part of this civilian event – singing the official song ‘Cenwch y
Clychau i Dewi’ (Launched last year at the Assembly by the Presiding Officer,
Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas and sung this year for the fourth consecutive year) and
creating a banner similar to the incredibly beautiful and photogenic
Pembrokeshire Banner which will soon be going to its permanent home in Saint
David’s Cathedral.
Copies of the song can be bought for Male Voice, Female Voice and Mixed Voice
(SATB) choirs (Ideal for Welsh ‘Gymanfa Ganu’ singing festivals), schools and
soloists and downloaded from www.ylolfa.com

the Davies Collection, National Museum Wales’ will be at the Everson Museum of
Art in Syracuse, NY, from Oct 9, 2009 – Jan 3, 2010.
National Museum Wales counts among its treasures the Davies Collection, an
extraordinary group of nineteenth- and early twentieth-century paintings that is
remarkable for its breadth and quality. Assembled between 1908 and 1923 by
sisters Gwendoline and Margaret Davies, the collection is exceptionally strong
in Realist and Impressionist works and includes masterpieces by, among others,
Cézanne, Daumier, Manet, Millet, Monet, Pissarro, Renoir, and Van Gogh. Further

Just an hour’s drive away in Oneida County, the exhibition entitled ‘Welsh in
America’ will be at Remsen, New York, until November 2009. ‘Welsh in America’ is
a 12-panel exhibition, researched and produced by the Welsh Assembly Government
in New York, that tells the story of the Welsh contribution to life in America
from colonial days to the present. It is housed in Remsen’s historic Stone
Church which is listed on the New York State and National Registers of Historic
Places.
Welsh immigration to the Remsen/Steuben area began over two hundred years ago in
1795 with fifteen families and continued well into the twentieth century. During
that time Remsen held a pre-eminent role in Welsh immigration to the United
States.
Remsen continues to celebrate its Welsh heritage and is part of a unique project
which is being carried out by the Remsen Development Corporation. ‘Ty Gwaith
Crefft’ will be a community fashioned around a railroad-oriented, mixed-use,
neighborhood in upstate New York in the early twentieth century and will include
artisans and small-scale fabricators from both Wales and New York State. The
project will interpret the history of Remsen and the legacy of Welsh immigration
to the area and will build social, cultural, and economic links between Wales
and the Welsh community in North America. For further info visit

SAN FRANCISCO/BAY AREA WELSH CONVERSATION COURSES
Now brace yourselves, I don't want to shock anyone, but you should not be
disappointed if you find that you are actually able to converse in "the language
of heaven" after just a short time in class. These classes aren't taught in a
lecture style. Instead, you will be meeting new friends and sharing ideas with
them from day 1 - all through the medium of one of the most beautiful languages
in the world.
These beginning conversation classes will be taught in 4 week sessions with
optional "field trip/activity based" practice sessions offered every other week.
The first will start in mid September followed by various 1 day courses on
specific topics which will be appropriate for Welsh speakers at all levels. So,
if you already have some Welsh at your comand you will be very welcome to join
in the adventures.
Right now classes are planned for San Francisco but other locations may be
considered depending on student demographics. The day of the week/weekend is
also flexible based on student needs.
