Join us at the Autry National Center's Museum of the American West as we
continue our new SCENES MUSIC SERIES.
On Saturday, September 18, we will present an evening of Chicano Music.
¡Si Se Puede! Bailar, Cantar, Perdurar: Escena de la Música Chicana
(Yes We Can! Dance, Sing, Empower: The Chicano Music Scene)
Don't miss these live performances by Lalo Guerrero, Mark Guerrero and
his band, and Quetzal! Lalo Guerrero, "the Father of Chicano Music,"
sings about Cesar Chavez, farm workers, and the plight of illegal
immigrants. Quetzal, an eight-member, Los Angeles-based band, writes
music about social issues and deeply personal topics and is redefining
the artistic world of Chicanos in America.
Many community partners will have booths and displays containing
memorabilia, history, and information.
Chicano artists, poets, and writers will also be on hand.
$8 for Autry National Center members, $15 for nonmembers.
