The Museum of Television & Radio and the Autry National Center's
Museum of the American West are collaborating to present two
fun-filled
weekends for families.
Western Daze - The Museum of Television & Radio
Saturday, September 18
1-4 p.m.
Hop in the saddle and ride back to those thrilling days of yesteryear,
when
thundering hooves and dusty trails took over TV screens. This family
program
will help you take a look at the golden age of the television Western
and
discover just how these popular shows shaped America's idea of the
West.
Throughout the afternoon you'll enjoy a series of favorite Westerns
from the
'50s, '60s, and '70s in a special family-style screening room. In the
Bell
Gallery you can try your hand at creating arts and crafts with a
Western
flair and be entertained by performers who will present songs,
stories,
trick rope twirling, and authentic Native American dances. Staff
members
from The Museum of Television & Radio and the Autry National Center's
Museum
of the American West (formerly the Autry Museum of Western Heritage)
will
even help hungry cowgirls and cowboys rustle up some delicious Western
grub.
Admission is free, but reservations are required. Call 310.786.1035.
