I am looking forward to the Hatfield remasters as I'm sure a lot of people are
but what I's really like is a re-issue of the 'Hatwise Choice' CD which has been
out of print for some time.
It was released while I was unemployed and I was unable to buy it and now I'd
love to be able to buy a copy and can't find one for love or money. I was
bidding for one on ebay recently but the price went way out of my league. Surely
if it's reaching 40GBP on ebay it must be time to reissue it.
If anyone can point me to a copy at a reasonable price I'd be very grateful.
Hi, I've just recieved CDs of Soft Machine's Bundles and Softs, ordered from Russia. I hadn't listened to Softs for about 20 years, and have never before...
Geoffrey, They are probably bootlegs from the original CDs version, this is the reason the sound is good. I have both Softs and Bundles, do not remember the...
... They were released on the "See To Miles" label if I remember correctly, Pierre [The See For Miles reissues were initially contracted by the band's former...
... Actually, Bundles was the album that turned me on to Soft Machine and my very first encounter with the Canterbury scene. So it was some kind of an...
... I am not sure they'll be able to do much simply by remastering, if the stereo masters are dull and lifeless. And what makes us think they are any better?...
I wonder why you didn't buy the LPs instead of feeding bootleggers and giving us all details as if you were happy! There is also a CD compilation gathering...
... Firstly, I'm not exactly what you'd call an audiophile, and haven't owned a turntable since 1984. Obviously I haven't bought any LPs since then either....
... In the "old days" Japanese vinyl pressings were sought after by audiophiles because they used a higher grade of vinyl. CDs of course being digital are much...
In those times where every penny counts and money rules as never before (sigh!) I would say that just having a better (thicker) coating on a CD may be enough...
... I dispute this - the mastering is very often the same. For instance the Hatfield mini-LP CD of "Rotters Club" has the exact same mastering errors as the...
While we're almost on topic is there any news on the reissues on the HATN CDs? I'm still playing the vinyl but was looking forward to getting the original...
I don't quite understand, Alick ... both albums are already available on CDs (with the tracks from Afters put as bonus) and have been on the market for quite...
... I believe these are being released around September/October. I think Sid Smith is doing the liner notes, but I think Aymeric's input would be compulsory on...

... The Virgin CDs sound fine to me. I'm not sure I need to keep updating my CDs because a new one comes with [Remastered] next to its name. I have the Spalax...
Hooray! Both Hatfield albums are set for a November release according to the latest Eclectic newsletter. Egg's "the Civil Surface" is also being reissued in...
To my experience Pierre is correct. 90% of my Japanese pressings (incl. LPs) sound clearly better than other. Better dynamics, more detail. They seem to care...
And sometimes, Japanese CDs have a different sleeve art that makes their purchase worthwhile. In the case of Soft Works' "Abracadabra" CD and the first Soft...
... I agree! I love the Japanese cover to the first Soft Machine Legacy CD, it's quirky and bizarre, although a bit retro. Didn't think much of the European...
Regardless what you think of bootlegs I think it's interesting to see these albums now appearing as counterfeits. This means there is still a huge demand for...
