I saw Whiskeytown last night at The Brewery in Raliegh, NC. Ryan Adams walked
on to the stage and announced they were gonna start the show off with 12 new
songs. "Today" was the last of tweleve and the only one I had ever heard.
They all sounded really good and he kept asking "what do you think?" Then,
after "Today" he said, "so if that was a recored would it be awsome?" It
sounded like they had already decided that those songs would make up the next
recored. Anyway after the new songs they came back out and played 16 days, a
awsome version of Houses on the Hill slowed waaaaaayy down, Waiting to Derail,
and Yesterdays News. It was a great show but the Brewery was so packed you
really could not take your hands out of your pockets and it was about 90
degrees in there in front of THE fan. I guess Ryan hasnt totally quit
drinking because I watched him down about 4 in the parking lot a few hours
before the show and he drank a few on stage. He was very in control and the
show was great. Looks like we are in for a treat with the next album.
