Ryan's show in Nashville on Friday night was, out of the numerous Ryan/WT
shows i have attended, his best. He seemed to be having fun on stage,
something he had not shown the last couple of times i have seen him. He made
some jokes, including one about Whiskeytown..." the reason for Whiskeytown
selling so many albums was because of my hair and my ass." He also said that
Whiskeytown should have been named "ryan's ass". His band, titled, Pink Heart
Society, also had a great sense of humor, often poking fun at Ryan during one
of his many string changes (he broke a few strings during the show), or
challenging him to do a song he might not have been sure about doing...."
c'mon DO IT, you p*ssy", was one of the comments directed at Ryan. The show
was very loud and aggressive, not what i had pictured after seeing him and
hearing him do the acoustic shows, but it was a very pleasant suprise. It was
reminescent of the Replacements of the "let it be" and "pleased to meet me"
era. The fast, raucous sound of some of the more "punk" numbers, could give
the Warped Tour a swift kick in the ass! If anyone was there and knows how
to get a copy of the show, please let me know, I would really love to have a
copy. And for those of you who are going to see Ryan during the next few
weeks, have fun and enjoy this generations finest songwriter doing something
that makes everyone, including himself, smile.
