Just saw Whiskeytown at Ziggy's in Winston Salem and they were awsome. Much
better than a few weeks ago in Raliegh. Adams was sober and in a good mood.
The highlight of the show was an unbelivable version of "Houses on the Hill",
which was the only acuostic song of the night. Adams said the song was about
"senior citzens on crack and old peo[le who shoot up". He also told the man
operating the lights to "quit fucking withe lights or I am gonna kill you".
Nothin like a little comedy mixed in with your music. Anyway they played all
my favorite WT songs except
"Angels are messengers from God". They played Midway Park, Houses on the
Hill, Inn Town, Dancin with the Women at the Bar, and everyone's new favorite,
Today. Fastball didnt do to much for me but there was a mob of teenage girls
there to see them and the place actully cleared out a lot after Fastball who
showed up ten minutes before they were supposed to play and did not get done
until Whiskeytown should have been on. It took forever but it was well worth
the wait. Oh yea, apparently Ryan Adams has quit drinking. Ive seen
Whiskeytown eight times and this was the first one where he was sober. For
about the last two weeks everybody has said he was sober and I guess that was
just what he needed to really put him over the top because he much better
tonight than ever before. It was a great show.
