This is a special invitation for you to take part in a ONE OF A KIND broadcast
tonight at 7pm Mountain time. Didgerod's Live Blog TV Broadcast will be
co-hosting "Jim Cook" world class Native American Flute Player and Guitarist.
Jim has played live around the Kansas City Area for many years and has recorded

Greetings..
I've been writing and recording my own music in many styles for a long time now.
Having played guitar and other instruments for 25+ years before playing the
Native American style flute it was a natural transition from improvising
melodies to what is called in the flute world "playing from the heart".
How the flutes entered my life goes like this. A dear friend of mine's mother
who was on vacation in the Ozarks had an accident and wound up in a small
hospital near there. While recuperating in the hospital she heard the sounds of
a flute being played by a minister who would walk the halls and visit the
patients. The sound had such a positive effect on the mother that my friend
found out what the instrument was and decided to get a hold of one and learn to
play it for her even though she had never played an instrument before. A couple
months later, after hearing this story, there was a festival in my town where I
happened upon these same style flutes in a store that had just opened up. I
picked one up and found that it was easy for me to play and loved the sound and
possibilities that were present in this little stick with holes in it. My
intention was to learn how to play it to be able to teach my friend, but as
things go, I've not had the chance yet.
But maybe someday.

the last several weeks due to a major ice storm. This storm has hit many

Carlos Castaneda (25 December 1925 – 27 April 1998) was a Pervian-born American

The books and Castaneda, who rarely spoke in public about his work, have been

claimed were his experiences under the tutelage of a Yaqui shaman named Don

Juan Matus as having the energetic configuration of a "nagual," who, if the
spirit chose, could become a leader of seers. He also used the term "nagual" to
signify that part of perception which is in the realm of the unknown yet still
reachable by man, implying that, for his party of seers, Don Juan was in some
way a connection to that unknown. Castaneda often referred to this unknown realm
as nonordinary reality, which indicated that this realm was indeed a reality,
but radically different from the ordinary reality experienced by human beings
who are well engaged in everyday activities as part of their social

I'm sorry I wasn't able to attend the festival, I had to be here in Amarillo for
in-services right before the beginning of the new semester (I teach at a
community college here). But I hope to be able to attend in the future!

this year.

Also, our facebook group has expired (apparently since the event is over).
I've started a new, permanent group. Please sign up on facebook, even if

Of a Kind Show" and best of all it is completely free and you don't have to

The co-host of the evening will be Randy Granger.
Randy Granger is a New Mexico musician of Mayan, Apache and Mestizo ancestry. As
a recording and performing artist he has earned recognition performing at
festivals and concerts across the US. He is nominated for a 2009 Indian Summer
Music Award in the Native Flute category as well as a New Age Reporter
"Lifestyle Award" for Best Native American Album. His music is heard worldwide
on programs such as Hearts of Space, Mystic Soundscapes, NativeRadio,com, NPR's
"All Things Considered" and many more radio and satellite programs. He has
performed at the Gathering of Nations in Albuquerque, Casa Grande Ruins American
Indian Music festival, Sundance Film festival, INAFA 2008 and many other
prestigious festivals and is invited to perform and present at this year's ISMA
(Indian Summer Music Awards) in Milwaukee this September. Randy is included on
the INAFA compilation CD "Clear Water Reflections" and has performed with
Michael Graham Allen, R. Carlos Nakai, Peter Phippen, Gabriel Ayala and many of
