Hi gang,
I know this isn't an all-important question, but I'm just curious, is the band
organ on the Dentzel "Kiddie Kingdom" carousel at Cedar Point a Wurlitzer 105?
Cedar Point is a famous amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio with several carousels
and organs.
I'm asking this since they call it a 105 on their website:
http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/rides/carousels/kiddy_kingdom_carousel.cfm
The organ itself is rather unusual-looking. It appears to have a cut-down
Wurlitzer 153 facade, but the organ chassis itself is smaller than an actual
153. The National Carousel Association census (which is not very well-informed
when it comes to band organs) calls it a
"Wurl facade-Stinson? organ"
I have not seen this organ in-person, nor can I find a recording of it. I have
seen a few videos of this carousel on Youtube, but they seem to be using
recorded music rather than the organ (let me know if you find one with the organ
playing!). If we could hear the organ, that would be the deciding factor, since
a 105 has a very distinctive sound. Of course, being able to inspect the
interior of the organ would be the ultimate; this would definitely tell us who
made the organ and what model it is.
