Greetings branch members.
 
The Great Basin Branch AGM will be held on Saturday October 4, 2008 from 9 am to
3 pm
at Davis High School (325 S Main St, Kaysville, Utah).  All GBB band members,
solo and
individual members, contest organizers and officers are invited to participate.
For solo
members, please bring your WUSPBA number and registration information.
 
The schedule is as follows:
 
8:30-8:50 – Registration and check-in
9:00-11:00 – Business meeting
11:00-11:15 – Break
11:15-12:00 – Workshop Block 1
12:00-12:45 – Lunch
12:45-13:30 – Workshop Block 2
13:30-14:15 – Workshop Block 3
14:15-15:00 – Workshop Block 4
 
The business meeting agenda items include:
Branch Report from the Executive Committee officers
Vote on the adoption of the new branch by-laws
Election of new officers (Vice President and Secretary)
 
All voting will follow WUSPBA voting rules. For specific information, please
check the
WUSPBA.org website for the current by-laws
 
The new Branch by-laws are attached for your review. Please be prepared to
discuss any
concerns you have at the meeting.
 
The nominees for office are as follows: (In Alphabetical Order)

Susan Kelly&#8232;Don Smith&#8232;Cory Young &#8232;&#8232;Secretary:
&#8232;Tashina Chipman&#8232;Erin McMaster
Mark Pehkonen&#8232;Colin Stewart &#8232;
Lunch is the responsibility of the individual members
 
The workshop offerings include options for pipers and drummers. The tentative
list is
below, but is subject to change.
 
Pipes: &#8232;Dennis McMasters: Learning Canntaireachd and its uses.
&#8232;Justin Howland:
Piobaireachd for the beginner and the not-so beginner.&#8232;Ross Morrill: Tone
and tuning for
fun and sanity.&#8232;Shawn Newton: Setting up bagpipes and maintenance.
(Alcohol free) (It is
possible) &#8232;Andrew Morrill: What judges are looking for and not finding.
&#8232;
Drums: (These are really not concrete yet.)&#8232;B.J. Gunn: Rudiments and
musicality for the
snare drummer. &#8232;Mike Postma: Premiere snare tone and tuning
Dan Schneider: Premiere Tenor/Bass tone and tuning&#8232;Midsection: We are
still twisting arms
on this one.
