Hey Familia! Summer's gone, school's back in session and we're ready to rock
your socks off.  This is our first show of the Fall, and we really want you to
come out and party with us at our next show

We will be world premiering brand new songs at this show, as well as jamming on
all of the old Ya Esta favorites.  The first set will feature the newer material
and the second set will focus more on the classics.  Prodigal son/Trumpeter Matt
Hilgenberg will be joining us for the classic material on our second set.  We've
also invited a ton of friends to stop by and jam so expect some surprise special
guests throughout the evening.

Our last show was our comeback show, and featured our surprise Tribute to
Michael Jackson.  It was a HUGE one time only event!  It even merited coverage
in the NY Times!!  So if you missed that one, don't miss out on this one!

All of this will be happening at our home base club, Camaradas.  Come out for a
Barrio burger and the best Sangria in town.

women: DJ Domino AKA Liz Martin and percussionist Julissa Vale.  We will be
playing as a quartet with Jorge, Niko, Itaiguara and myself.

We are honored to be a part of a new 2 CD compilation featuring some of the best
Puerto Rican artists both young and old.  It's called the Puerto Rican Freedom
Album.

FILM
There are a number of film projects coming out where our music has been
used for the soundtrack, please support these filmmakers as much as you

Bragging Rights
Bragging Rights is a wonderful documentary film about Stickball playing
in Spanish Harlem by Sonia Gonzalez. Our song, "As Warm As The
Sun," is featured both in the film and in the DVD special features.

Whose Barrio?
Whose Barrio? A film by Ed Morales and Laura Rivera will be premiering
at the New York International Latino Film Festival on August 2nd at noon
at the Clearview Chelsea Cinemas, 260 West 23rd Street, Manhattan.  This
is an amazing documentary about gentrification in East Harlem, and how
it affects us all.  Most of the music featured in the film is by Bryan
Vargas & Ya Está, including one brand new song made for the film.

Antonia Pantoja ¡Presente!
Finally, Antonia Pantoja Presente, dir. By Lillian Jimenez is a
documentary about a local activist and hero of the Puerto Rican
community.  The original score is by Richard Martinez and features
performances by Yomo Toro, Andy Gonzalez, Alejandro Negron and Bryan
Vargas (myself).  It screens Thu, Jul 30 at Clearview Cinemas Chelsea
Screen 7, 6:30 PM. Also part of the New York International Latino Film

What's up folks!! Yeah, it's been a minute – but WE'RE
BACK!

After a few months off, we have officially decided to break our hiatus
and back to the business of making bootys move.  I had to focus on Grad
School for a minute, but now we're ready to get back to work.  So
next Friday we will be taking the take as Bryan Vargas & Ya Esta once
again.  Believe me, we're dying to play for y'all!

We will be playing some new songs, some semi-new songs, and tons of Ya
Esta classics for you.  Plus you can see all the new tricks I've
learned while getting my MA in music!

ALSO – we will be doing a special Michael Jackson tribute.  MJ was
my first first musical hero, I play music today because of the joy I
received listening to Thriller & Off The Wall when I was just eight
years old.  We will be doing a special tribute to the one & only King of
Pop.  I can't reveal any more details than that, but trust us, you
don't want to miss this.

All of this will be happening at our home base, our favorite spot in New
York City, Camaradas, el Barrio.  Come by for some great beer, wine &
sangria, very good company and do yourself a favor and order some tasty

What's up folks! Happy New Year to you all! We all had great Holidays
ourselves, and we're itching to get out there and play some music for
y'all.  So we are starting the New Year right with a show at our home
base Camaradas.  This is our favorite place to play in NYC right now,

Familia!  We are proud to announce our return appearance at our home

Familia – it's our "Back to School" show! It's been two months since
our last New York appearance and we're thrilled to be back!  We have
been invited to share the stage with one of our favorite local bands
the Akoya Afrobeat Ensemble.  Akoya is a great band featuring slamming
percussion work from Yoshi Takemasa, lead vocals from former Fela Kuti
sideman Kaleta and backing vocals from Chico Mann's Mayteana Morales.

The Southpaw is one of our fav venues to play in Brooklyn.  It's a
great sized room (so you never feel too cramped!) with a good bar and
a friendly vibe.  The last time we played there (way back in 2005) we
sold the place out!  It's close to the subway and well worth your

Familia! We've been getting tons of emails asking when our next show
is. Thank you so much for all the love! We're thrilled to announce the
next New York performance of Bryan Vargas & Ya Está.

Rose is one of the hippest joints for new music in the New York area
today.  Their restaurant downstairs has a great menu (so come early
for dinner!) and the bar upstairs has one of the best selections of
rum you'll find in the city. And yes while the show is in Brooklyn,
it's in Williamsburg (my home neighborhood!), so it's just a hop, skip
and a short cab ride from Manhattan.

We will be performing at 9 PM Sharp! For real! No exaggerations! So
don't think this is a typical NY – "they'll start an hour late…." We
MUST start on time folks. So that means you'll have plenty of time to
get home and rest before work the next day, right?

HEY FOLKS – WE'RE BACK!!!!!

I am very proud to announce our first show of 2008.  As some of you know, we
took a
short hiatus after our last show in November.  We just needed some time to
recharge our
batteries and refocus our energy.  But spring is here, and we're ready to hit
the stage.

Drom is NY's hot new world music venue. They have great sound and a great menu. 
We're
really honored to be playing there, and we hope to see you there to celebrate
with us.

We invited our good friends Yerba Buena to share the night with us. As many of
you know
I spent 5 years in the trenches playing guitar with Yerbabuena. I even produced
their debut
CD, Boricua Roots Music (go buy one now!).  So this is a reunion of sorts for
us.  Expect
some of the Ybs to sit in with us, and who knows maybe I'll play a song or two
with them.

Familia! It's been too long!

After a very active spring & summer, we've been on a little hiatus,
getting some rest and getting it together, etc. But we are way overdue
to perform some Ya Esta musica for y'all.  So we are very pleased to
announce our next BIG SHOW at Joe's Pub.

This show is our 2nd annual Pre-Thanksgiving Day Celebration.  Last
year we had an amazing show at Joe's (with Nation Beat & Gabriel
Moura) and we're thrilled to be doing it again.  So this looks like
the beginning of a NEW NYC tradition.  Joe's is one of the coolest
clubs in the city, with great sound and sightlines.  We will be
performing all of your favorite Ya Esta classics, as well as
premiering some BRAND NEW material.  You will not want to miss this
event – and evidently it only happens once a year! So please c'mon out
and join us.  Purists take note: this is the full six piece Ya Esta
Experience.

Also appearing on the bill for the evening is DJ TURMIX, in his NYC
debut coming direct from Barcelona, Spain.  Turmix will be exploring
the boundaries of Nuyorican Bugalu, Funk, Salsa & House music.  I
guarantee that you will be dancing up a storm to his brew.

Most likely this will be our final show of 2007 (but one never

Hey folks – apologizes about the rain cancellation last week. What can
you do, blame it on the rain (as Milli Vanilli so eloquently put it!).

But hey – we couldn't let the summer end like that! Way too much of a
downer. So we've scheduled a last minute show at our favorite uptown
spot, Camaradas, el Barrio. Camaradas is literally my personal
favorite bar in New York, it's a place where many of us feel like
home. Good food, good beer/wine/sangria and most important – familia
en droves.

Our buddy DJ I Storm will be spinning the best funk, reggae, salsa &
soul all night. And y'know what else? It's my Birthday this week, so
this is the official Birthday show!! So c'mon down and join me for a

The Ya Esta Fir (Matt H, Matt B, Itaiguara & Bryan) are back from
Germany. We had a great great tour. We've been very busy catching up
with life since we've gotten back, but we promise the full "german
tour" blog post will be up soon with pictures and everything. So be

But here's the big news: We are thrilled to announce our next NEW YORK
SHOW! THIS FRIDAY AT CAMARADAS!!

We will be returning to our favorite neighborhood bar, Camaradas, el
Barrio.  Unfortunately we had to cancel our last wed due to ahem
"business" reasons….. but we're very proud to announce that we've been
moved to FRIDAY NIGHTS!!

So please join us on our NEW monthly night. This Friday thing is on a
trail basis for us so please come out and support.  Fridays are one of
the most fun nights at Camaradas, and we need your support to keep us
there!

Also on Friday DJ I-Storm will be spinning the best mix of salsa,
soul, reggae, funk, 80s, and more. Dave "I-Storm" Massucci is one of
our FAV DJ s in NYC right now. Dave is a true MUSICIAN and he knows
how to keep the flow of a party going right. He will be spinning all
night, before, after and inbetween our sets. So please bring your

Camaradas is literally my personal favorite bar in New York, it's a
place where many of us feel like home. Camaradas features the best
Nuevo Puerto Rican cuisine you'll find, as well as a great selection
of beers, bottled & on tap.  But don't take my word for it. Check out
what DJ extraordinaire Bobbito Garcia wrote on a recent myspace blog:
"This is my favorite spot in the world! …The food here is bananas
delicious, the flan, literally, the best in the world."

Familia! We are VERY proud to announce our European debut - our first
ever tour of Germany.  We are thrilled at this opportunity to bring
our sounds to German audiences and we can't wait to get over there.

Myself, Matt Hilgenberg, Matt Baranello & Itaiguara Brandao will be
traveling as the Ya Esta Four (or perhaps Fir? Cuatro just doesn't
seem right in this case…) and playing some of the best clubs for Jazz
& World Music in Germany.

This is a very unique tour because we will also be performing as part
of a NEW project as well. We've been asked to collaborate with the
phenomenal violinist Markus Reindhart. Markus is a relative of the
great gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reindhardt. This new collaboration
will be billed as NUEVO DROM. Nuevo Drom shows will feature a full set
by Ya Esta, a full set by Markus Reidnhardt Ensemble and a full
collaborative set with all of the musicians. So if you see Nuevo Drom
listed, that's us.  You can check out Markus at

The shows that are not listed as Nuevo Drom shows are 100% YA ESTA.
