Hey mi gente, it's time for our monthly residency at Camaradas, el
barrio. Camaradas is literally my personal favorite bar in New York,
it's a place where many of us feel like home. Camaradas features the
best Nuevo Puerto Rican cuisine you'll find, as well as a great
selection of beers, bottled & on tap.  But don't take my word for it.
Check out what DJ extraordinaire Bobbito Garcia wrote on a recent
myspace blog: "This is my favorite spot in the world! …The food here
is bananas delicious, the flan, literally, the best in the world."

Our Camaradas shows have been loads of fun and we've been trying lots
of new stuff out at the shows. So please come out and let us know what
you think.

PLUS, this is our LAST show before the Ya Esta Four (Matt H, Matt B,
Itaiguara & Bryan) head off to Germany, so please stop by and wish us
well.

PLEASE NOTE: that starting this Wed. our shows at Camaradas will have

Hey folks, we are very proud to announce our RETURN engagement to the
Brooklyn Academy of Music's BAM Café Live.  This is a great room at
one of NYC's most important performing arts institutions. The sound is
great, and every seat gives a great view of the band.

We will be joined by two of the BEST musicians in NYC, trombonist Mark
Miller and the phenomenal drummer Willie Martinez.  This is a RARE
Saturday evening performance for us, so don't miss it! The show is
also FREE or charge, with no drink or food minimum (but the food is
pretty good…). Plus it's Cinco De Mayo, and what better way to start
the festivities than a drink at BAM Café? You can hit the tequila bars
later…. So come on out and celebrate May Fifth with us this Saturday

Familia! We are very proud to announce that we have been invited to do
a return performance at RAZA. What is Raza, you ask? Raza has very
quickly become the HOTTEST new monthly party in New York City. It's
all about combing true Latin Roots music with modern nightlife and
culture.  We played Raza back in Dec, and it was hands down one of the
best Ya Esta shows of all time. We are the 1st group ever that Raza
has asked to return.

Raza is currently hosted at CIELO, which is a truly great spot, the
best club in the meat packing district.  The "home of deep house
music" is a Sex & the City style hipster joint - that somehow feels
completely unpretentious and homey. Their sound system is not to be
believed, and there is no better dance floor in New York City right
now. This is a great hang for singles, or for anyone looking to blow
off steam after a hard day.

Also Raza will be providing a FREE salsa dance lesson from Rodney
Lopez. Rodney is an old college buddy of mine and is one of the best
dance teachers around. If you've had the pleasure of seeing the
acclaimed documentary, "Mad Hot Ballroom", then you've seen him in
action. Yes, Rodney is the teacher leading the Dominican kids to
victory in their dance competition. If you haven't seen it GO RENT IT
NOW!! This movie will change your life!!

Hey HEY hey, mi gente – what's shakin? I proud to announce the next
"Ya Esta" related Candian events!! Matt Baranello & I will be heading
up to Toronto for an exciting extended weekend. It's our very own
"Excellent Adventure" if you will…

For starters we will be presenting a duo workshop at Long & McQuade
musical instruments. They're like the Sam Ash/Guitar Center of Canada,
so it's a great honor to be asked to do a workshop there.  It's free –
so please tell any musicians you know to come on down.

Then for two nights we will be featured at The Trane Studio, one of
Toronto's best Jazz Clubs. Matt & I will be joined by an all-Canadian
band including my old college buddy – alto Saxophonist Sundar
Viswanathan.

Finally on Saturday night, we've been invited to be the special guest
musicans with Chiva, one of Toronto's coolest Afro Latin ensembles.
This show will be at the Savannah Room, a great spot as well.

musical series that we are very proud to be a part of. From now on, on
the 2nd Wednesday of each month we will be the featured artist at
Camaradas, el Barrio. The debut night is this Wed, March 14th. We hope

Camaradas is literally my personal favorite bar in New York, it's a
place where many of us feel like home. Camaradas features the best

Familia! We are honored to be performing for the 1st time ever at the
Lucky Cat in Williamsburg. The LC is a great little place that has
GREAT CHEAP BEER ($3 Bohemias, $4 Stellas) fresh made GOOD PIZZA and
some of the best music in town. Many of our friends from the
Antibalas/Dap Kings circle have been performing there and they asked
us to join them for this special evening. It's only $5. We will be
playing some of our newest compositions and all the Ya Esta classics.
This is our 1st show of what is promised to be a very exciting 2007!!!

Hey Familia!  Well, it's time for us to say goodbye to 2006.  And
we've decided to do it in style….

We've been invited to perform at RAZA.  Raza is the COOLEST
new monthly party in NYC.  It's all about combing true Latin
Roots music with modern nightlife and culture.  Last month's
party featured our good friends ILUE AYE performing and was
DA BOMB.  This month, the theme is "Our Latin Thing" and will
feature a screening of the classic Fania All Stars film of the
same name at 6 PM.

Raza is currently hosted at CIELO, which is one of the coolest
clubs in New York right now.  The "home of deep house music"
is a Sex & the City style hipster joint - that somehow feels
completely unpretentious and homey.  This is a great hang for
singles, or for anyone looking to blow off steam after a hard day.

Raza begins at 6, and we will be performing one brief set at 9
PM.  Our good friend DJ David Medina will be spinning the best
in Cuban Timba, old school Salsa, Afrobeat, Brazilian  and more
all night.

This show counts as our semi-annual "Pre New Years"
celebration.  And those are our BEST shows every year!  Plus for
the YE Purists - Yes, this show will be featuring the full six piece
band, no subs.  SO DON'T MISS IT!!!!!!

Hey folks!  We are VERY excited about our next show, this
Wednesday night.  We are part of an exciting triple bill, on
Thanksgiving Eve.  Joe's Pub invited us to share the stage with
two great Brazilian groups -  local band Nation Beat & direct from
Brazil, songrwiter Gabriel Moura.  Nation Beat cross Maracatu
rhythms with New Orleans funk, while Gabriel Moura is a
collaborator of Seu Jorge (one of our favorite musicians).

We've got the FULL BAND with us on Wed, so for you "YE
Purists" out there, now is a great time to hear the band as you
love it.  Plus we will be filming this show, so we can post clips on

New York area show since August!

Ortiz, this evening promises an eclectic mix of three Brooklyn
based ensembles.

Zebulon is one of the hottest spots in Williamsburg right now.
Great sound, and a cool easy going vibe. .  It's always a great
place to hear some music and grab some food/drink.  We highly
recommend the pannini sandwiches (named after famous Jazz
record labels) and the fine Tap bar.  Please come down and
support if you can.  Again this is a showcase, and we're hoping
to make this one of YE's new regular hangs.  Also if you see a tip
jar going around, please be generous, this is a FREE show, and
those tips are our Cab money!!

THEY'RE FINALLY HERE!!!!

Ladies & Gentlemen, Mofongo Music & Media is very proud to
announce the 2nd printing of our debut CD - BRYAN VARGAS &
YA ESTA - AFRO LATINO SOUL

After months and months of problems and delays the CDs finally
arrived at the offices today.  So to all the radio DJs, writers,
presenters, etc. whom we promised CDs to, they'll be on their
way soon enough.  And to all of our fans, old and new, who have
been patiently waiting to purchase this item, the time has come.

For now we will be selling the CD at YA ESTA shows only!  Within
a few weeks we will make the CD available through CD Baby &
Amazon only.  We will be limiting the
amount of stores we deal with due to business problems we
had (one guy bounced checks on us twice!!).  We also hope to
have the album on itunes, Emusic, Urge, etc. soon enough.  Stay
tuned for updates.

of us.  We are hoping to feature this fine work on our myspace

name situation.  No I'm not responsible for that.  Yes, I have
complained about it.  What can ya do folks… It's still a great band
and well worth checking out (esp. for free!).  I produced their
upcoming debut CD, "Boricua Roots Music" and I'm quite proud
of it.  This is a very special show for us as we're opening for
Fania-era legends Joe Battan (King of Latin Soul) and Sonora
Ponceña (classic Salsa Dura).  So please come down and
check it out!!  It's an all day fest, and we should be going on

party - although I guess you have to be on our mailing list to
know about it… so really it's the most exclusive party of the year!!

What? You thought we were gone?Well we're back!!! And we've
got lots of exciting stuff in the works.  Starting with a great show
this weekend.

We've been invited to play the opening event of the Blue Curtain
Concert Series.  This is a great outdoor concert series in lovely
Princeton, NJ.  We'll be sharing the night with our good friends
Tato Torres' Yerbabuena (Dude… their guitarist is da man.).
This is a great excuse to get out of the City for a day - it's just and
hour & a half by Car or by NJ Transit trains. Plus it's FREE!

And yes, as you may have noticed some of the regular guys can't
make it out… but we've invited some of our best friends and fav.
musicians to join us.  Leo Traversa has performed and recorded
with Milton Nascimento, Mino Cinelu, Chris Washburne, Don
Byron and a million others.  He's one of the best bassists
around and we're thrilled to have him with us.  Roland Guerrero
is no stranger to YE fans, he's played with us a hundred times -
and also with Chico O'Farrill, Steve Turre, Femi Kuti and a host of
others. And David Gomez - he made his YE debut at our Blue
Note debut show.  We loved him so much, we invited him back
again! Plus the usual suspects, Matt Hilgenberg, Jorge
"Georgie" Vazquez and myself.  So in other words, get ready
Princeton, IT'S ON!!

DEBUT!  This Saturday night we will be playing the legendary
jazz club for the first time ever.  Now normally, the Blue Note
costs a gazillion dollars to get in.  But for our debut show the

Just a reminder folks for our HUGE show this Thursday night.
This is our last scheduled New York concert until March '06 so
c'mon out to get yer YE fix while you can.  Besides, I know a lot of
y'all have the day off on Friday anyway… so no excuses!  Keep in
mind that after the live music ends, Jeannie Hopper will be
spinning for our dance party all night long.  So 2 great bands,
plus the dance party of the year, all for only $12.

Not only will Jay be joining us for our set, but he'll be leading his
own special project, put together just for this night.  Featuring
some of the most legendary Latin music sidemen in New York:
Eddie Bobé on timbales and vocals, Joe Gonzales on Congas
and coro, Ibrahim Gonzales on Bongos and coro, Luis Khan  on
Trombone and Violin, Luis Arona on Bass, Pablo Vergara on
Piano & Jay  (of course…)  on Flute and Sax.

Even if you can't make it for our set (but try to get there early for

Hey folks - this email is an early warning for our next show.  We're ending
2005 with a great big bang.  It's the return of the (semi) annual Ya Está
Pre-New Year's Celebration.  In the past we've done it at No. Moore, Tonic,
Latin In Manhattan & the Knitting Factory.  Now we bring our biggest party yet
to Joe's Pub - NYC's best intimate venue.

We've invited some special friends of our to share the evening with us.  The
phenomenal Jay Rodriguez (of Groove Collective fame) has played with us in
the past (Southpaw, Musikfest) - now he's putting together a special project
for this evening feat. some of the BEST jazz, latin & soul musicians in New
York City.

DJ Jeannie Hopper is the creator of the Liquid Sound Lounge. LSL has been
as staple on WBAI on Saturday nights and at the best clubs/lounges around
town. We are honored to have her joining us for the evening.

Also - after both main sets, we will be having a massive jam featuring Jay's
Band, all of YE and some special invited guests (TBA).  We will be going from
9:30 until the break of dawn - so don't miss this amazing party!!! Buy your

Hey folks, long time no see!  Well we've been on a brief hiatus as
we prepare new material and make our plans for next year.  But
we've been invited to be a part of a great new concert series in
Vermont, so how could we say no?  VAE is a lively community
center that is quickly becoming the destination of choice to hear
great music in New England.

This will be a special stripped down show with just a 4 piece
band.  We will have with us a special guest bass player: Patrice
Blachard who you may have seen with Angelique Kidjo or with
our buddies Radio Mundial.

This is only our second time in Vermont, so we need your help to
spread the word. Yes, we know most of you live in New York.
Please forward this to anyone you may know in Vermont or New
Hampshire.  We'd love to meet your friends and family up there.
Also N. Bennington is really close to Albany, NY and Western
Massachusstes (Berskshires) - so please forward this to

whole My Space thing.  For those of you who don't know what I'm
talking about, My Space is a "networking" destination site that
seems to be growing every second.  Every band in America has
a My Space page, and now we're no different from the rest.

we get them and check out our blog for the latest Ya Esta news &
updates.  We will be trying to use this forum as a way of posting
new music for our fans, keeping in touch better and hopefully
getting exposed to some new ears in the process.
