Re: [yairiguitars] Any opinions on DY40ce?

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, in fact, it was the one on eBay, but my buddy decided to go with a Tacoma
instead. He's in a band that plays pretty frequently, and he decided the Yairi
was "too nice" for that abuse. (His words :-) He's going to get one later for
studio use instead.

Thanks again!
Eric

Hello Eric,

I would say that $1,200 is on the high side~ even IF
it is a 2007 (have you verified this by heelblock numbers?). Bluebook lists it
at $825 to $975 in Excellent condition.

Also, if it is the one on EBay currently, some of
his info seems to be off (unless it is an older model). His "list" price
is high for 2007, as I have the price list showing $1,879 MSRP, basic discount
would be 20% off. (if new, more if used or blem). Some of the info listed
that doesn't fit the year 2007, is that the bridge and fingerboard are Ebony,
not Rosewood. Before 2007 they are listed with Rosewood fb and
bridge. The listed electronics should be correct as they were the 600T
MKII back to 2004. Also note, that I found NOTHING in any of the catalogs
and pricelists, that say this has a Sitka Spruce top (it could be, it just
doesn't list it as such)

As to the warranty, I would check with Alvarez first
as I was told previously the warranty would be honored IF you were the original
buyer and it was purchased through an authorized dealer...even then, you were
supposed to register the warranty within 10 days of purchase. I'm sure
Alvarez would make some exceptions, but think it mostly depends on what year
this was made and if their records will show it has been registered in the past
by a previous buyer. You will need receipts for sure, proof of
purchase~ of course, if the warranty is of no concern to you, no
problem.

Good luck!
yl

A friend of mine is considering a 2007 model DY40ce priced at $1200. Condition is said to be "mint" with very little playing time on it. Any thoughts on...
