Some suggestions and thoughts on what to do next:
Try saving the sounds as MP3 files. Get a WAV-file audio-capture program like
Anvil. Plug the output of the pedal or the FB01 into Audio Line-In of your
computer. Set the input levels using the Recording section of the PC volume
controls (the window with the row of sliders).
Record your playing on the instruments for about five minutes. Save as
filename.wav. Get the LAME program to convert the .WAV files to .MP3. For the
settings, use 192Kbps (or high-quality variable bit rate). Mono is OK if the
FB01 is the source. But use stereo MP3 if the source is a multi-effects box
that puts out the chorus or reverb in stereo.
Feel free to use lots of distortion like the DeathMetal pedal from DOD or
DigiTech. Record one audio track as floating, string-pad-like, ambient,
new-age, chorus/reverb/delay atmospheric 'sound-sculpture. Record a distorted
melody or lead on top of it.
Get a cheap USB MIDI interface from eBay for your PC. Download a Windows FB01
editor. There are several that still work with XP and USB. Or get the STeem
program (that emulates an original Atari ST) and an old Atari FB01 editor.
These still work with Windows XP and USB MIDI. Learn how to shape the sounds of
the FB01 by changing the operator parameters.
Get some inexpensive MIDI controllers. I make MIDI controllers using
inexpensive AVR microcontrollers, LCD displays, and old game controllers that
sell for about $40. Try learning how to make something relatively simple, like
a joystick-controlled pitch-bender. There are plans on the various AVR and PIC
microcontroller development web sites for various sound projects.
Just some ideas.
