In a related matter, I noticed just last night that iTunes (US) is
selling the new LONDONYMO & GIJONYMO albums, though only on the iTunes
app in the iPhone (the computer-oriented iTunes store lacks any YMO at
all). They are selling for about $16 per (2-disc) set, which seems
reasonable. The iPhone/iTunes store seems to have a lot more Japanese
pop music in general, for whatever reason. I hope they eventually
offer the entire Commons roster!
This is changed. You can now get both albums, at about $16 each, at the 'computer-oriented' US iTunes store. Keep in mind that each album is the equivalent of two CDs, so this is a decent price, especially since we don't have to pay the 'Japan Tax' on them.
How to find them at the US iTunes Store: Don't bother typing in 'YMO' in your search. Instead use the long version: "Yellow Magic Orchestra". TADA!
[Oddity: Both albums are listed as having been released in 1997! At least they spelled Commmons correctly.]
Now, if we are lucky, the US store will provide the nightly "Playing The Piano" tour recordings as well. It could happen!
Also note that the US iTunes store has a HUGE collection of Ryuichi Sakamoto work available. Sad to say there is nothing by Takahashi, Hosono, Sketch Show or HAS.
Share and Enjoy,
