Re: Love-Peace

One has to remember that John Lennon was in the
middle of many crises during his "lost weekend": the
money earned from the Beatles' albums were frozen in
Apple accounts; Paul McCartney was sewing to dissolve
the Beatles; John was under pressure to give back the
Apple money he used for Yoko's art and film projects;
he was facing deportation; the paranoid Nixon
administration was keeping files on him, and wanted him out of
the USA; Yoko was considering divorce; he felt he was
losing his gift as a songwriter; and he was drunk most
of the time in Los Angeles, thus, he searched for
temporary relief. Of course, years earlier, when he said he
wanted a "divorce" from the Beatles, it seemed he liked
the security of being a Beatle because he never
announced it publicly. It is true however that John was
thinking of having Paul work on Harry Nillson's Pussy Cats
album. In addition, when Paul and Linda were visiting
John and Yoko in 1976, they were watching Saturday
Night Live together and on that show the Beatles were
offered millions if they would reunite on the show. Paul
and John almost went down to the studios and
reunited, but did not. After that, it was never discussed
again.
