Thanks, mark, for reminding me just how twisted my Yonder experience is. My life
is such that I almost never travel to see the band. I see the String Summit.
Every year (pretty much - the explanations get complicated, but let's not get
into that, shall we?).

However, I still remember 2002, when they played a great show at the Crystal
Ballroom in February, then the first (and I'll say it - the best) String Summit,
then in August less than an hour from Portland with Sam Bush sitting in, and
then twice in November at the Crystal. As they say, "Gone are the days the ox
fall down...", wait, no, I meant, "Gone are the days we stopped to decide...",
wait, no, I meant, "Those were the days, my friend, we though they'd never
end...". OK, I admit I don't know what I mean, but still, "The goodle days have
passed and gone..."

And I think that's what all the complaints are about.

Good summary, Mark!

Yeah, they used to play in Eugene every few months, but that was so long
ago, the Wild Duck brewery venue got torn down for a bank, and even the
perpetual grad students at the UO can't recall where it was anymore, so
whatcha gonna do about it? I ain't bitchin. Denver, me and my only wooly
jacket will be shivering on down for some more teeth chattering Yonder
goodness in a little over a month!

Cheers,

Carol

They used to play the midwest in spring. 2000-2002 i saw them in march every
year. now it's october. either way i'm happy to see them come through town.

They've always been good about playing 3 or 4 summer dates in around the
Illinois area. Either Summerfest up in Milwaukee or down in Peoria.
Summercamp once or twice.

Hey everyone --

Yep, I've been in lurk-mode for too long and today's definitely the day to
break it because there are three -- count 'em, THREE! -- Kinfolk birthdays worth
celebrating:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARY MUNOZ!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CAROL CASHMAN!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KEN SCHWARTZ!

Yes, I realize Ken's already gone to his rest but that's no reason to stop
celebrating the day our world got a little sweeter because of his presence, and
the same joy comes from knowing Carol and Mary, both of whom add so much to our
Kinfolk family!

Much Love,

i don't know if they will play the same set, but I bought tickets to both
and will record both... so they have 2 chances to get it right for the
recording if they do play the same titles in both sets.

some philosophical thoughts about hearing the same songs repeatedly:

Can any two renditions of a song ever be played the same way, even by the
same artists? Isn't this why we keep going to see these creative bands
perform live, possibly multiple times per year/month/week?

Do some listeners hear a song the same way every time it is played? Is some
ideal of the song imprinted in their brains so that what they are hearing is
their ideal version rather than what is actually being played?

Howdy all,
I see there are 2 SF shows, 7 and 10pm. Are they going to play the same set at
both shows? I would like to go to both, but not same tang.
Have a nice day, I said so. Mike

This Robin Banks is the same person who saw Yonder in Reno about TWO months ago.
I remember because he was asking about some place to stay and I was about to
offer up my brother's house before he said something similarly stupid and I
thought better of it. What a whiner.

Jeff showed up at the bluegrass jam in Oskar's this past Tuesday and while
talking to me he said (and I quote), "Did you know there's a weat coast and some
called a NEW Mexico?"

True story.
