The original English version of Andrew Lamb's extensive programme note
on "La generala", written for Emilio Sagi's new production at Madrid's
Teatro de la Zarzuela, is published on zarzuela.net by arrnagement with
the theatre. Our version (unlike the Spanish version in the programme)
features some intriguing graphic material, from the time of the original
1912 production.

There's also a "2007 CD review roundup" of zarzuela and other Spanish
music, including Manuel Sirera's 2nd zarzuela album, an interesting
double album of tonadillas and a "one-man zarzuela" by Manuel Garcia,
and two exhilarating collections from the Bilbao Accordion Orchestra
(for the zarzuela fan who thought they had everything!)
