Hi Michael, Gerhard & Marco from moderation...
I'm with you Gerhard - the only people who have
a problem are the record companies - does anyone
remeber the 'Greatfull Dead' - they had DIN sockets
next to the stage connected to their PA where
fans could connect cassette machines and get the
mix straight from the desk - and a lot of the WR
'LIVE' stuff thats around must have been done by
their sound engineers or the engineers at venues
where they played because they are so clear - if
anyone has heard the live shows from the 1975
tour of Europe you'll know just what I mean...
...there's no point in pretending these recordings
don't exist - as for reproducing the legal recordings
then I agree, the people who do this are nothing
less than thieves. But - I have what I believe to be
the only un-played copy of "Friedrich Gulda's his
Euro Jazz Orchestra" on the Prizer label which feat
Joe Zawinul on one side and JJ Johnson on the other
- it took me twenty years to find that recording and
I haven't heard of another one - it's certainly never
been reissued to my knowledge and I am tempted
to burn myself a CD and also give copies to friends
who are also into JZ's work - In this situation what
do we do??? - i'm sure that now I have mentioned
the Gulda recording people are going to start offering
me money for it - BUT - don't bother because it's
not for sale!!!
...best wishes to all Joe,
Wayne and WR fans every where
