Good work Jay!
In addition: Paul, did you try to record your vocals clean with no EQ and effects for the most objective recording?
Apply EQ and effects afterwards. This may make a difference as well.
Good luck,
Theodoor

Subject: [Zoom MRS-8] Re: Can someone please help? Trouble recording voices.
I have the same problem. I joined the Zoom forum (2090.org) and posed the same question. A guy there responded suggestiong that the issue was the room I was recording in.
The mic would pick up my voice coming from the short distance between it and my mouth.
It also picks up my voice that is reverberating throughought the room bouncing off walls and the sound waves are coming to the mic "out of phase" as they are travelling further. This produces that "canny" sound.
He suggested that I get some kind of baffle to catch and keep your voice in the vicinity of the mic. He even posted audio samples that demonstrated one with, and one without the baffle. And let me tell you, it was like night and day. If you can't afford one, here's a link tells you how you can make one.

This is my next project as well.

For many years I struggled with inferior products all of which produced hissing noises etc. Now I finally have a decent set up : ie: the MRS-802 I can`t seem to get the hang of the jargon in the manual.
